He's presented at the beginning as a racist, Klan-like leader of a bunch of goons who like nothing better than indiscriminately shooting Mexican peasants. Yet later on in the film, he's doing business with the Mexican army before leading a group of Mexican soldiers against the Mexican rebel group. I've seen it argued that this exposes his hypocrisy and is just another example of the nihilistic themes evident in the flick. That argument doesn't wash with me. It's a fudge by fans to make the poor writing make sense. What do you think of Major Jackson?
