- Drew Swordsvor 2 TagenThere are a lot of great elements here, even if the film isn’t the most cohesive overall. This is probably my favourite Emily Blunt performance; she delivers a heartfelt yet wonderfully oddball portrayal that really carries the film. (My mum desperately wants her wardrobe from it.) The comedy landed well for me, and the action sequences were confidently directed. The film also attempts to spark a deeper conversation about the paradoxical relationship between religion and extraterrestrial life, though I found that aspect less compelling than its exploration of synchronicity, the human spiritual experience, ESP, and the idea of “light workers” or spiritually chosen individuals. While it doesn’t fully bring all of its ideas together into a cohesive whole, it’s an interesting and entertaining watch that’s worth seeing at least once.

I’m just saying, if you weren’t happy with the ending, you could have just emailed Gregg Araki. Most aloof FBI agents of all time lmfao O’Connell’s character is a fucking idiot. How does the man who understands everything not understand anything going on around him smh Also people would not be that still if those truths came out lmao The highlights of Emily’s powers are better employed in many other sci-fis…including *burrrp* Rick & Morty Why did the knife hurt Colin Firth but not the crucifix Hollywood is having a Christianity resurrection! (Or maybe that’s just part of Colman’s contract???) An entire plot about the government trying to suppress information / speech / content (lol) is right on the money for Stevie!! MILD SPOILER ⬇️ I did like the bit about corporations really being behind it tho Very cute how the bad guys and good guys are just friends in the end 👬 It’s such a simple message it reminds me of Don’t Look Up lol “You are not alone” made me gag It made some older people start getting philosophical in the lobby afterwards so hey, it’s sparking discussion! Note: I hate the default poster for this film. It looks like a fucking axillary crutch. Watched in IMAX at Regal Warren West Currently Ranked #80/98 in 2026 Ranked Added to Extraterrestrial Excellence (it’s at the end of the list tho)
- Rick11. Juni 2026I really feel like what this movie needed to elevate it to great is a few more scenes of government agents swarming a location from all directions in unmarked black cars. Maybe I’m just a bit of a pessimist, but I think the way Spielberg and I think everyone, near and far, would react during the last 10-15 minutes is very different.
- Adam Hendleyvor 4 TagenBig Spielberg fan, this movie fell well short. Genuinely felt some of the story and scenes were straight out of a Shyamalan film. Weird and awkwardly funny at times. Some cool action sequences, has that Spielberg vibe but it was one of his typical 50/50 movies over that last 15 or so years and this one was just not very good. I love watching movies more than once and I can confidentiality say this is a one and done

Blunt delivers a career-best turn as a meteorologist whose encounters spiral into a paranoid conspiracy chase that splits the difference between Minority Report and Close Encounters. Williams' score soars, the blocking is gorgeous, and the back half genuinely got me. Loses half a star for a baggy script and a finale that pushes too hard for tears. Still one of his best in years.
