Devil's Due - Teufelsbrut
Alles erscheint in rosarotem Licht.

Devil's Due - Teufelsbrut Rezensionen & Wertungen
- KGM SOSA7. November 2025I just rewatched Devil’s Due (2014) for the second or third time my last viewing was probably about a year ago & I’ve got to say, this movie is actually pretty good despite its flaws. I’m giving it a solid 7/10; the so called “critics” on Rotten Tomatoes are some of the most pretentious cynics out there. They recycle flashy buzz words & tear down good films to sound smart & astute but they watch movies with zero imagination. This is one of those cases where they completely missed the mark. Now that’s out of the way this movie did some things right & some things wrong, on the positive side I loved how it overcame some of the limitations of found footage films by creatively mixing different camera types beyond the usual handheld by also using public CCTV security footage, hidden spy cams, etc; Which adds realism & variety to the presentation. I also appreciated how it sidestepped many overused horror tropes & went for originality in key moments, like the supermarket, church, parking lot, first-night sleep & ultrasound scenes (no spoilers). They showed some originality here & I appreciated it for its creativity, You can tell the filmmakers were trying to innovate within the genre. The casting was strong too the chemistry between the main couple was incredible, feeling natural & believable. On the downside, some story elements felt rushed & underdeveloped, particularly the occult aspect driving the whole situation. The movie hints at answers about why the main characters were chosen only briefly via implication & subtle dialogue in the beginning but never thoroughly explores them, I certainly picked up on the answer (because I’ve seen this multiple times) but most people likely missed it. I also wish there had been more scares, what’s there is effective & impactful, but they’re too infrequent. Overall, Devil’s Due isn’t a masterpiece, but it’s exceedingly better than its ridiculously low IMDb rating suggests. It’s one of those underrated & misunderstood gems that will have you replaying a moment or 2 repeatedly forever. Not a classic, but definitely memorable enough to revisit.
- fraggle6727. August 2025Uninspired and boring. Full of tropes. With an unsatisfactory ending.
