- Goosebumper8. März 2026Deathstalker is a decent fanatasy film with some charming special effects. Seeing real world sets, costumes and puppets is alwasy a treat. It even has stop motion skeletons. Sure the film could have looked better with $20 million worth of CGI injected into it, but that defeats the whole purpose of this film. A homage two old fantasy B-movies. The story isn't that intresting as it's your standard fantasy stuff with evil wizards and a degraced hero seeking redemption. The three main characters are all fun and they have good banter between them. Oh and the film was produced by Slash, yes that Slash, of all people.
- Hipster ZOMBIE13. November 2025If you’ve been craving a return to the days when fantasy movies came drenched in gore, slime, questionable wigs, and monster suits stitched together with duct tape and raw enthusiasm—congratulations, Deathstalker (2025) is here to fill that cheesy void in your life. Director Steven Kostanski, the madman behind the insane Psycho Goreman, takes on sword and sorcery with Deathstalker. And it rules. Because only Kostanski could take a barbarian cult classic from the VHS bargain bin and resurrect it with a mixture of childlike humor, R-rated brutality, and creature designs that look like Jim Henson and Sam Raimi got drunk and decided to remake Conan. The result? Absurd. Cheesy. Blood-soaked. And utterly amazing. And yet, through all the intentional schlock, there’s genuine imagination. The creature designs are wild, the world-building is goofy but rich, and the film moves with the energy of a D&D campaign run by a Dungeon Master hopped up on energy drinks and meth. If you loved Psycho Goreman—the humor, the monsters, the practical effects, the complete disregard for dignity—then Deathstalker should absolutely be your late night viewing choice
- Patrick Wai9. Januar 2026Deathstalker looks like it was unearthed from a dusty VHS bargain bin labeled “Definitely Not Conan,” and I mean that as the highest compliment. It proudly recreates the entire early-80s fantasy aesthetic—glorious rubber masks with frozen expressions, claymation creatures that move like they’re reconsidering their life choices, and plastic puppets that deserve their own agent. The whole thing feels like a live-action Dungeons & Dragons campaign run by a dungeon master who’s had three beers and zero budget. It’s packed with tongue-in-cheek humor, absurdly macho action, and just enough self-awareness to let you know the filmmakers are in on the joke. Deathstalker isn’t for everyone, but if you’ve ever wanted to watch a barbarian punch a rubber monster while synth music cheers him on, this is basically cinema.
