Cold Storage Rezensionen & Wertungen
- KurtHamstervor 4 TagenEntertaining, but switch your brain off at door.
- ThreeGsvor 5 TagenI mean seriously, who makes decisions like that? Quite silly.
- anthonys16723. Februar 2026Good film
- sinrise16. Februar 2026A bit of a return to an earlier time of filmmaking when characters had reasons to do the things they did and the story came before any message. This could have easily tried to be the next disaster movie blockbuster but instead it goes for a much smaller in scale but high in stakes story and it was legitimately fun to watch. This movie could have come out in the 80s and be almost entirely unchanged. It's gross but not gory and what gore there was had a reason to be there. This movie is proof that good writing still exists in Hollywood.
- SirMonkalot6. März 2026Loved the vibe of this, went from super serious to super silly. A fun B movie horror comedy! The cast was great, awesome choice of actors. It’s nothing that hasn’t been done before but I like the way they approached it. Joe Keery & Georgina Campbell have great chemistry and need to be in more movies together. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the shitty CG.
- Warloghevor 5 TagenAn alright saturday night movie
- staffm86. März 2026Is it an Oscar winner? No. Was it fun as heck? Absolutely! It was over the top in parts but I went in expecting that so it was a good watch!
- Patrick Wai3. April 2026Joe Keery’s Teacake is the kind of character who makes you consider abandoning a movie before it has the decency to get started: not especially bright, far too chatty, painfully goofy, and seemingly engineered in a lab to make the dumbest possible decision at every turn. I went in expecting more action and quickly realized this isn’t really an action movie at all, even if it does cough up a few decent action scenes here and there. It’s closer to a weird B-movie cousin of The Naked Gun — not quite as silly, but still operating on a level where you have to accept a lot of nonsense and just move on. Liam Neeson, at least, does exactly what he’s there to do, playing the stern, retired ex-spy with enough conviction to make the rest of the movie seem almost respectable. The fungal apocalypse angle is a fun enough twist on the usual zombie/end-of-the-world formula, but the whole thing is so strange, thinly written, and underdeveloped that it feels like the kind of movie that would have gone straight to video in a less forgiving era. There’s some dumb fun to be had, but with better writing and more actual character development, this could have been a lot more than a mildly amusing pile of spores.
- Andrew Shannon2. April 2026Good concept. New take.
- Doc Worm29. März 20262009 straight to DVD vibes. Wanted to like this one because it seems like a fun enough concept and has a solid leading cast. Unfortunately, their talents are wasted here. Mostly down to poor direction it seems. Script seems punchy enough but the delivery is not great. Editing, pacing and inconsistent CGI do a lot to hold it back as well. There’s some scenes that are independently very cool. Solid opening, and there’s a scene showing how the infection spreads. Wildly inconsistent overall.
- Carl Lawrence23. März 2026Fun little film. Never going to win any awards but it should do reasonably well on TV/Streaming. Not much of a plot but enough there for a comedic TV series premise.
- Shaydeknight20. März 2026Cold Storage is a reminder that a film doesn't need scale to create stakes. It leans into a smaller, more contained story, and benefits from it. It certainly had a bit of an 80s vibe to it, just with better effects. The script is actually decent, and the characters act with clear motivation, with a narrative that moves forward because of their decisions, not because of some nonsensical plot requirement. There is a deliberate rejection of familiar tropes. The single mother is not reduced to a stereotype but written as capable and intellectually grounded. The ex-con, instead of leaning into aggression, is talkative and emotionally connected. These choices aren't framed as morality lessons or woke checkboxes, which is why they work. The film avoids turning its characters into vehicles for messaging and simply lets them function within the story. The cast supports this well. Liam Neeson brings his usual presence without overwhelming the film, and the ensemble holds together with different roles and backgrounds that don't feel engineered. Joe Keery does a competent job, but the standout is Georgina Campbell, who carries a natural, unforced rhythm that helps anchor the tone. There's an ease and continuity in her performance style that recalls her work in "Hang the DJ" on Black Mirror, and which contributed to making it one of the best episodes of that show. It was also a treat to see Vanessa Redgrave in a film, I've been a fan of hers for decades. Visually, the film is uneven. The CGI lacks weight at times, which undercuts the threat, but the practical effects are more convincing and give the infected a physical presence that the digital work does not always match. The contrast is noticeable, though not fatal. What ultimately holds the film together is restraint. It could have been pushed into spectacle or loaded with virtue signalling, but it avoids both. Instead, it focuses on telling a coherent story with characters that behave like people rather than symbols. It's a sad commentary on the times that this alone makes it stand out more than it should.
