Cocaine Bear

- jackmeat2. Dezember 2025My quick rating - 6.7/10. I have been looking forward to this one for a while, but not for the reasons as most of you. I read it was the last flick starring Ray Liotta, and I have always been a big fan of his. What a quirky cast of characters this one has. The movie itself is just a fun ride that takes its turn into the violent category when it wants to catch you by surprise. I can see why our fun little bear got to be a guest on the Oscars this year LOL. Honestly, the movie does a good job of keeping you interested since it would've been easy to just give you 90 minutes of a coked-up bear roaming the forest and tearing up everyone in sight. I wouldn't have lost interest in that, but many more people would. Instead, we get to meet the drug dealers who lose the coke, along with the neighbors and kids who find the drugs. All of them are quite unique and funny in their own ways. There were almost too many characters to keep track of their side stories, but not enough to make it a concern. Keri Russell was excellent here, as was O'Shea Jackson Jr. in dropping in the laughs at just the right times to move us to the next mauling. The timing in this flick is done just right to make the violence less disturbing while still allowing you room to laugh. I really was quite surprised at how they turned this B-budget style flick into a successful piece of A-list material. Let's face it, a bear on drugs is clearly perfect schlock on most occasions except when they are actually based on a true story LOL. Then you realize the bumbling crooks and lost drugs all did happen, and the goofy actions taken may not have been all that far-fetched. The bear was even given a sense of humor in chasing the bags of coke like a dog with a stick, or playfully staring down the victims before ripping them apart. All I can say is it is worth the hype and a lot of fun. RIP Ray Liotta, it isn't a Goodfellas moment, but I am sure you would've gotten a kick out of the finished product.
- Flix in a Minute10. August 2025You’re walking through a quiet Georgia forest when a 500-pound black bear, wired on cocaine, charges straight for you. That wild image is the launchpad for Cocaine Bear, a gleefully over-the-top ride that blends horror, comedy, and chaos in equal measure. Loosely inspired by a strange real-life incident from 1985, the film asks a simple question—what if that bear went on a rampage instead? From the jump, the movie makes no attempt to play it safe. Director Elizabeth Banks steers the story with full awareness of its absurdity, embracing the ridiculous premise while keeping the energy high. Once the bear shows up, the film rarely slows down, delivering a mix of shocking gore and slapstick moments that walk a surprisingly fine line. The bear itself is a highlight. The CGI sells both the menace and the absurd humor, making this unpredictable predator the true star. One moment it’s terrifying, the next it’s the source of an out-loud laugh, and the visual effects team makes both work. The human side of the cast has plenty to offer too. Keri Russell grounds the mayhem with a dose of humanity, Alden Ehrenreich proves his comedic timing, and Ray Liotta brings a manic, scene-stealing energy that fits perfectly with the film’s tone. There’s even a bit of thematic weight beneath the insanity. Between the chaos and carnage, the story hints at the consequences of human recklessness, with the bear almost feeling like a natural force striking back. It’s not deep, but it gives the madness an extra layer. Still, the movie has its rough patches. The large ensemble means some characters fade into the background, and a few side plots pull focus from the bear’s antics. The pacing can dip when it strays too far from its main attraction. This isn’t a film for everyone. The humor can be crude, the violence is graphic, and subtlety is nowhere in sight. But for those ready to lean into its outrageous concept, it’s a blast—especially with a lively crowd and a drink in hand. If you’re looking for an unfiltered, rowdy good time, Cocaine Bear delivers exactly what it promises. It’s not here to win awards for nuance—it’s here to make you laugh, wince, and maybe even cheer for the bear.
- JaredXIII20. November 2024Disappointing considering the premise of having people encounter a coked-up bear. They should've gone absolutely WILD with this premise and made it something way more ridiculous & Over-The-Top à la; Piranha 3D (and 3DD), Eight-Legged Freaks!, ZomBeavers, or even Blades (1988). All those are excellent parodies of the classic Killer Animals/Unstoppable Beast/Humans-Vs-Nature genre.
- Arthas Menethil7. November 2025One word: "Insane." This is not a great movie by any means, but what it is, is that one off-the-wall movie that you can just throw on when everything else seems like it's been done before and you're bored out of your mind, on that winter weekend when you're shut in and nothing to do. Like I said, Insane.
- Richard Scott Long30. Oktober 2025This is absolutely one of the worst movies i have ever seen in my life. Ridiculous
- Varun19. Oktober 2024There were 2 scenes in this movie that were gnarly and made me laugh real hard. There were some genuinely funny moments but also a lot of cringe ones too and the ending was weak. The CGI was pretty good throughout. Since I went in with low expectations, I wasn’t too disappointed and found it decently entertaining.
- tacl516. Oktober 2025Great fun. Most original film from Hollywood in a long time.
- Atif Chaudry2. September 2025It's mildly entertaining but easily a forgettable film. Kinda ticks the box if you have 1h 30 mins to kill and don't want to watch anything that requires to much attention.
- Moxiechan4. Oktober 2025High quality cinema, high brow, a real thinking man's movie. Full of feels and cocaine. Yes what's going to happen is obvious what did you expect? It's now how it is, it's how we got there or something.
- gamefreak300013. September 2025Amazing
- mickerdoo28. August 2025Laughed out loud several times. Delivered on the action, gore and humor I was hoping for. Just wish slower scenes were tightened up.
- neuroparadox29. Juli 2025The best effect in the movie is making Alden Ehrenreich look like the child of Mark Ruffalo and Jack Nicholson 😻
- Kevin Ward3. Juli 2025Ursus Cocainus is at it’s best when it’s playing up the campy and creative coke fueled kills—that probably gets a bump if enjoyed with friends in a packed theater. The human storylines sometimes drag the pace, particularly in the latter half. This honestly felt really long for a 95 minute movie. When it stays on the rails, though, this really cooks. RIP to Ray Liotta who exits cinema like no one else. Kudos to whoever cast Alden Ehrenreich as Liotta’s son. 🤌🏼 Despite a couple minor grievances, I think Pablo Escobear largely delivers on it’s promise. I’m planning to go again with my kids as they die with laughter everytime they see the trailer, and I’m looking forward to seeing it again. A couple mid-credits scenes too, so don’t exit early if you don’t want to miss out on those. (Props to marketing for the Cocaine Bear snorting straws. A nice touch 👏🏻👏🏻)
