I kept hoping she would just have a nice prom night, even though I had an idea what was coming. Honestly, if you turn it off when she gets voted prom queen you have a nice feel good movie on your hands.

Carrie stands out as one of the strongest Stephen King adaptations, perfectly capturing the cruelty and fear that defines high school hierarchy. Brian De Palma delivers a stylish, intense film, but the over-sexualization of the teenage female characters is way too excessive and extremely uncomfortable, making Carrie almost unwatchable at times. Despite this, Carrie remains a classic, but it’s a story that could benefit from a more modern, sensitive retelling.

    ## Synopsis Carrie is a loner in high school partially because of her extremely religious mother, is bullied at school. At prom, she uses telekinetic powers to get her revenge. ## Review This movie starts wild and ends with a weird dream. I got to be honest, after watching [[Halloween (1978)]] and this, I fully understand why parents thought everyone was having sex and that the world was evil. Combine that with serial killers were around, yeah the world was crazy in the 70s. The start of the movie is crazy. I have never been a woman, never will be, but to make fun of someone for having their period is so out of pocket to me. Maybe it was more normal in the 70s, but I just can't fathom that kind of response. The teacher is so over the top. She slapped two different students and didn't think anything of it. Was slapping people more allowed in the 70s? If so, could you slap coworkers? Either way, the main bully and her tag along with the hat on always, makes Regina George from [[Mean Girls]] look humble. ## [My Rating] With the new [[Carrie]] TV show coming out, I wanted to revisit these movies (there are 3 of them) to see how they compare. I saw about a post about the TV show saying "Carrie has the most justified crash out" and after seeing this movie, she really does. It isn't a great movie anymore, the events happening mainly in flash cuts which doesn't really work anymore. I think in 2026, this at best is a 6. ## [Parental Rating] They aren't making it past the first scene. Questionable 18-year-olds fully nude running around the locker room with what could be considered fondling in the shower. Rejected by both right there.

it's a strong allegory for school shootings these days. what interested me watching as an adult is just how preventable it was, just like with school shooters. if the school system had properly held the locker room girls accountable. if the teacher had taken the bullying or home abuse more seriously. if anyone, anyone at all, had stood up for carrie. we've all done it to some extent. is it the monotony of life that keeps us from acting, when we know we should?

Carrie '76 was never my favorite King adaptation, but it still holds up--especially with each mediocre remake that emerges seemingly once a decade. Decided to rewatch before the Mike Flannagan mini-series later this year, and I have a hard time imagining how this story could be done much better fifty years on besides. Sissy Spacek has such an accursed aura to her from scene one onwards! All other adaptations lack someone with the kind of gravitas that Spacek brings--save, preposterously, Carrie 2. Anyway, Carrie '76 has the rare honor of having a baby face John Travolta get obliterated in his greaser mobile. Can that ever really be topped?

It’s not a bad film but considering there’s 3 I was expecting a lot more not sure if it just wasn’t my type of film or whether it’s bad (in my opinion) but I wouldn’t watch it again

it’s a raw, haunting portrayal of adolescence, alienation, and awakening. Beneath its supernatural thrills lies a powerful subtext: the triumph, however tragic, of the bullied and the silenced. Carrie White’s journey from meek, repressed outsider to a force of nature is both terrifying and deeply cathartic. De Palma masterfully uses horror not only to scare but to symbolize the fury and freedom of a girl becoming a woman in a world that fears both.

It’s definitely a classic this film, but honestly I didn’t like it. Many parts, in my opinion, are really boring and almost useless. I didn’t like it personally, but the scene where she kills everyone is cool.

Fantastic film with great use of raw cinematics - a tad bit over the top in some parts, but where that really counted made it great! (like when the teacher bitch slapped a bully - instant relief and a sign that humanity and its justice prevails). Too sad an ending though.

I don’t think it’s aged too well. Probably great in the 70’s. Not a recommendation from me.

    2026 Carrie 8 episode MiniSeries

An eight episode Mini series of Carrie October 2026!! Is the release month 🏆 Director, Mike Fanagan directs this miniseries. Summer H Howell plays as Carrie White💃 Samantha Sloyan As Carrie White's mother,💃 Silna Agudong As Sue Snell,💃 Joel Oulette As Tommy Ross,💃 and Arthur Conti As Billy Nolan. 💃The 2002 remake movie of Carrie ended in a very interesting way. She survived and drove off in a vehicle with Sue. The writer of this particular carrie movie purposely created this ending because his plan was to have a carrie TV series because the way the 2002 carrie ended, it left the door wide open for either another sequel of the movie or a TV series. Of course we know the TV series did not happen, but instead, I'm excited to say that there's going to be the 2026 miniseries carrie streaming and airing October of 2026 👍 There's no specific actual date yet or day of that month when it will be released. But through word of mouth it's going to be released this October 2026. 👍👍👍 Can't wait for that! Woohoo!😭😅😅😅

    Carrie White's Bloody Dress!

I wanted to share something in regards to actor Sissy spacek role in this movie as Carrie White. Focusing on the bloody dress. When this movie was being filmed, Sissy did not remove that dress once it got its first dose of blood on it. It took 3 days for them to shoot that scene and she did not remove that dress or the blood for those whole 3 days!! She ate in that dress, she slept in that dress, and she lived in it while she alienated herself from everyone because she wanted to grasp the character of Carrie White, to feel what it would feel like to be her. Alone with no one. She purposely did that so she could become the living character of Carrie White.
