- cferaco14. September 2025Blow tells the rise-and-fall story of George Jung, a small-town dreamer who becomes one of America’s biggest cocaine traffickers before losing it all. Johnny Depp plays George with quiet charm and growing despair, making his fall from grace hit even harder. Fred Jung’s line sums it all up: “When you’re up, it’s never as good as it seems. When you’re down, you never think you’ll be back up again. But life goes on.” Like Mark Wahlberg’s Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights, George chases a bigger life, rides the high until it burns him, and ends up with nothing but memories of when it all seemed perfect.

George Jung hat nur ein Ziel: Er will reich werden, und das möglichst schnell! Gemeinsam mit seiner Freundin Barbie zieht er einen schwungvollen Handel mit Marihuana auf und versorgt innerhalb kürzester Zeit die Westküste Kaliforniens mit Pot. Doch dann geht auf einmal alles schief. Die todkranke Barbie stirbt, und George wird bei einem Transport geschnappt. Im Knast lernt er Diego kennen und diese Freundschaft hat goldenen Boden. Diego macht George mit dem kolumbianischen Medellin-Kartell und dem mächtigen Drogenboss Pablo Escobar bekannt. George steigt nun richtig ins Drogengeschäft ein. Kokain! Beinahe jedes Gramm, das in den USA geschnupft wird, geht durch seine Hände. Als er in Kolumbien seine große Liebe trifft und sein Partner Diego ihn kurz darauf betrügt, will George endgültig aus dem Geschäft aussteigen. Doch solche Beziehungen lassen sich nicht so einfach kündigen.
