After he dies in obscure circumstances, she falls prey to a stepmother who isolates her from the world and even seems intent on stealing her newborn son. Trapped, there's only one solution left: escape. When she stops in a village in the early morning, Sixtine rents a room under the name Sophie. She attracts the sympathy of Lydie, another single mother, who offers to take her in, and of the parish priest, who wants her to take over the choir. Taking refuge in a caring community, the young mother starts a new life. But if she wishes to break with the sect that continues to hunt her down, Sixtine must find the courage to confront it.
