Life does not spoil the wayward stove-maker Agniya - she lives in the Far North in a dilapidated, poorly heated house, fishes in an ice hole and raises her son alone. Having agreed to Boris proposal to build a stove in his hut, Agniya gradually falls in love with him, but in the end uses him to achieve her main goal - to move to a new apartment.
