Jem White, whilst out hunting, is lost in the snow. He fires his gun in the hopes of his being rescued, and is luckily heard by Ethel Stanley and her mother in a hut close by. Ethel and an admirer of hers immediately set out and rescue Jem. Jem becomes infatuated with EtheI. Her former admirer discloses his true nature by refusing to lend Jem his horse when Ethel's mother is taken seriously ill and requires a doctor. Jem, however, forces him to hand over his horse at the point of his revolver. Jem is successful in obtaining a doctor, but upon his return is accused of horse stealing, and is sentenced to death. Meanwhile, Ethel has a vision, and sees Jem about to be hung. She at once starts out to rescue him on her sleigh, and is successful in releasing him and obtaining for herself a happy future.
