The show doesn’t shy away from the darker truths of its time — including the quiet horror and stigma of AIDS — grounding its glamour in genuine tragedy. Season two shifts gears entirely, trading the time-hopping structure for a single story wrapped in a semi–film noir aesthetic. It’s glossier, moodier, and leans more into the absurd, like Desperate Housewives wandering through a Hitchcock daydream. While it doesn’t quite have the emotional heft of the first, it’s still full of bite, colour, and cattiness in all the right places.
