Biopic about Finnish painter Venny Soldan-Brofeldt (1863-1945). Around the turn of the century, she marries journalist and writer Juhani Aho who soon becomes infatuated with her sister Tilly as well. Both women eventually have children with him, and an unconventional love triangle evolves with all three of them living together in Finland and travelling around Europe during the turmoils of the First World War and the Finnish Civil War.
