E1Common EntranceWhen Jo's best friend Camilla is about to start at St Hilda's,the plush boarding school attended by Caroline,Jo wants to go too and passes the scholarship entrance exam. At the Open Day Charlie feels out of place amongst the wealthier parents and is unhappy about his little girl moving so far away from home. Tom himself,the best man,organizes a stag night with a difference with an unusual stag film and Laura popping out of a giant cake. E5Cupid's ArrowsWhen Charlie agrees to partner Tom in a school golf tournament Tom's friend Toby declares that Charlie is Caroline's 'significant other' and should marry her. On Valentine's Day Tom sends Caroline and Charlie separate invitations to meet at a French restaurant in the hopes of getting them together. Back home they explain to Tom that they are fond of each other but not in the way he had hoped. - The Babysitter
E7The BabysitterCaroline and Charlie are off to a school parents' evening but Laura has a date so Jo persuades them that she can baby-sit Tom. Unfortunately Tom drops one of Laura's ear-rings down the sink so Jo gets Rick,the class hunk,to come round and retrieve it,prompting her envious classmates to turn up. Arriving home early Charlie is not happy to see a full house though Caroline is surprisingly forgiving. - The Heiress
E9The HeiressWhen Laura is left fifty thousand pounds by the late William Brookenfeld a suspicious Caroline is led to believe that her mother had had an affair with him whilst still married and is very angry. Laura admits to the affair but explains that she was very lonely because her husband was an alcoholic and that she confessed the affair to him and they made up,which leads to reconciliation between Caroline and Laura. - A Friend in Need
E10A Friend in NeedDumped by her husband unpopular Diana Wilkinson descends on the house and,though Caroline does not like her,she feels sorry for her and lets her stay. She is greedy,selfish and untidy and the kids move in with Laura to escape her. Caroline is tolerant however - until Diana starts to throw herself at Charlie,a sign that it is time for her to go. - The Anniversary
E13The AnniversaryTom has his first girlfriend Katie but,following Charlie's efforts to make her feel welcome,she develops a crush on him. An irate Tom demands Caroline dismiss Charlie and when she refuses he moves into a tent in the garden. He dreams of killing Charlie but is relieved to wake up and find it was only a dream and the guys becomes friends again.
