The full-blooded nurse Micki Busch has been given a job as ward manager in a prestigious hospital. Finally she has arrived at her dream job - but privately things look anything but rosy. After the separation from her boyfriend Paul, Micki flies out of her apartment and has to move into the nurses' home with the other nurses. After initial difficulties she and the nurses become a well-rehearsed team. Even her competitor and roommate Charly turns out to be a potential best friend. Together, the unequal couple fights relentlessly for the well-being of the patients - and against the tyrannical clinic director Friedrich Tümmler.
