Over the past year, local residents went to court in various places in the Netherlands. They tried to stop new lily cultivation, or to enforce that growers can only use a limited number of pesticides. In some places the judge agreed with local residents, but is the judge not doing what the government should actually do: protect local residents against health risks and provide clarity about what growers are and are not allowed to do?
