Set in the late Meiji period (Meiji period: 1868-1912). Ten Fujioka's (Wakana Aoi) family has run a drug wholesale store for generations in Kyoto. She laughs a lot, but, due to her laugh, important business talk flounders. Her father, Gihee (Kenichi Endo), tells her not to laugh. One day, she meets a man Tokichi Kitamura (Tori Matsuzaka) who is chased by a bunch of men. Since then, Ten's life changes.
