While the dispute between Jericho and New Bern is being sorted out by the Cheyenne government, Heather returns. Meanwhile, an old friend of Rob comes to Jericho.

Jennings & RallDale returns from trading with news that the Hudson River Virus has crossed the Mississippi River, and when the town's vaccine supply is seized Jake coordinates a retrieval operation. Elsewhere, Hawkins is forced to show part of his hand to Beck.

John Goetz's men engage in a shooting on Stanley's farm where his sister is killed. Major Beck grudgingly decides to take notice of a deep throat and thereby enable the saving of both Jake and the truth about the nuclear war mongering conspiracy, for which a secret prewar J&R report indicates government guilt.
