It certainly helped that two of the leads were full‑time stand‑up comedians and the other was a TV heartthrob; that mix gave the show an easy charm that made it instantly appealing. The kids were adorable, and I always appreciated how the series explored the complexities of family relationships, especially when children were involved. Early on, the show kept things light, but as the characters grew and the audience grew with them, it gradually introduced heavier topics. By the time those moments arrived, we were ready for them. Full House never pretended to be something it wasn’t. It stayed in its lane—sweet, funny, and family‑focused—and succeeded because of that consistency.

Serien foregår i San Francisco hvor tv-værten Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) er blevet enkemand med tre børn, efter hans hustru (Pam) er omkommet i en bilulykke (det er sket før seriens start, man ser hende dog i enkelte tilbageblik). For at hjælpe med de tre børn flytter to af Dannys gode venner ind: Jesse (bror til Dannys afdøde hustru) og Joey (gammel ven siden folkeskolen). Jesse og Joey er henholdsvis musiker og stand-up-komiker. De tre børn er D.J. (Donna Jo) Tanner, Stephanie Tanner og Michelle Tanner. Michelle Tanner spilles (på skift) af tvillingerne Mary-Kate og Ashley Olsen der fik deres gennembrud i serien.
