    Bela Lugosi cameo! In regards to the early Universal monster movies, this one felt like it had the most to say? About being an outcast (family and society), sanity, the dark nature of man....but this also felt like the slowest of them yet. The cast was great, especially Evelyn Ankers and Lon Chaney. The wolf make-up still looked good and I'm sure it was pretty groundbreaking at the time. This also felt like the first of the Universal monster movies where the score was front and center, it did a lot of heavy lifting. The sets for this one were also not as impressive as Dracula or The Mummy. Speaking of those, there have been good, modern versions of both Dracula and The Mummy whereas The Wolf Man seems to be one of those stories that no one as been able to adapt well into a modern setting.

    "The Wolf Man" unfolds leisurely, interspersed with creepy romantic exchanges that add a touch of drama. Nevertheless, the storytelling is decent enough to make it a watchable film.
