Not Great! A struggling artist lines with two women. They are all insufferable narcissistic cretins who believe they deserve better for no other reason than they are themselves. Said struggling artist looks at the homeless and sees what he's on the road to becoming, hates it, so kills them. Supposedly this is some great social commentary on capitalism. I didn't see that at all, just a commentary on narcissists who's ego can't take that they have no talent and the world doesn't owe them anything. Many such people exist today As a result I didn't find the story engaging and whilst I like punk the soundtrack really didn't do anything for me and it's used heavily by the movie to progress the narrative. Watch as a piece of video nasty history but not for entertainment in my view

This was like if Three’s Company replaced Jack Tripper with Travis Bickle……and then he proceeded to kill a bunch of bums with a power drill.
A grimy and squalid depiction of a Bohemian existence, Reno is a starving artist just trying to make rent when an infomercial and $19.95 unlocks a new ability and unleashes an “outlet” for his rage.
This film has a scuzzy aesthetic, a discordant  music/sound design and an even nastier outlook.
Not necessarily the most enjoyable watch but I was compelled throughout. Some of the drill kills are impressively gruesome.

The artistic Apocalypse of the 1980s draws nearer and Abel is sick of the bullshit; it's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it. As usual, Abel has his finger on the pulse of New York like no other filmmaker (sorry Scorsese). Even in this roughly executed film, the soul of the city, its inhabitants, and what makes New York... New York, is rich in detail. Nothing Hollywood, nothing fabricated. Contemplating domestic terrorism against ConEd; a New York treasure, this man is. Bias towards this, as it's just a great time capsule of my parent's Union Square partying turf (Max's Kansas City and The Palladium) and what would become my teenage Union Square some 20 years later.
