Really loved the first couple acts as it explores some really interesting questions. Different kind of film, but reminded me of the experience I had watching Rudderless which is also worth watching and going in blind.

This ain't your usual domestic drama by a long shot. The Drama acts as a fantastically dark and humourous examination of the ways in which a lover's past exploits coming to light can force a shroud of doubt that compels one to reexamine everything they thought they know about their partner (for both parties). And I love the way in which the editing exhibits this. Quick cut-a-ways to mildly confounding scenes that may be a memory or something completely imagined pull us into the character's head, exhibiting their worries and doubts. The examination is all the more entertaining for the fact that the most judgemental character in the entire film (Rachel) is so scandalized by something that ALMOST happened, while taking entirely no responsibility for either setting in motion the conversation that led to the drama, nor for the terrible act that she actually did perform. Her ability to feel above it all and peer down from her high horse while actually being the most mudslinging toxic person of them all rings incredibly true as a personality type in 2026. The other question that is posed in the film is whether actual growth and learning can take place. Is it possible for someone on the cusp of an absolutely heinous and despicable violent act capable of becoming a new person overtime that is genuinely separate from the person that had that impulse. It also looks at, with great dark comedy, the cascading fallout that comes from discovery of that past darkness. No act ever exists in a vacuum. And often darkness leads to darkness, as we see here. A couple of things I loved: -How not over lit the nighttime bedroom scenes were. You can easily picture them having some blue rim light to create a bit of contrast, but I love that the scenes play as just flat darkness, leaving you to focus on the dialogue and nothing more. -How the re-introduction bit that Emma tries doesn't work at all the first go around, but by the end it works. Because the first time, she's already desperate, she already feels like she's at rock bottom and will try anything to turn it around, but Charlie isn't there yet. He can still cash out without too much damage to his reputation or sense of self. But by the end, he has also debased himself as the events unfold. The cataclysm has fully engulfed them both and so he has no choice but to join in on the reset, it's officially all they have left. -The back up DJ showing up and providing one of the biggest laughs I've had in a while with the borderline nonsensical gear chat and then following that up with a legendary jump scare! One of the smallest roles ever to hit absolute legend status in my books. The Drama is equally hard to watch and a joy to watch, and I'm super impressed at what a feat that is to pull off.
- cultfilmliker12. april 2026“I just thought it looked cool.” Exquisite and so uniquely American. Gotta say, the plot hilariously would NOT work if Zendaya wasn’t one of the most attractive humans alive As noted in my review for Outcome, “Everyone’s done differing levels of bad things; some of us just haven’t been caught / acknowledged them” might not be the winning theme Jonah thought it was. But it certainly worked for The Drama! lol Jeremy Levick is a national treasure Currently Ranked #4/45 in 2026 Ranked
- James Saenz12. april 2026“shooting the grandparents: tbd.” i was so stressed throughout this movie i was in the fetal position at certain points. it’s so funny and uncomfortable in equal measures, and zendaya and pattinson play so well off each other. i was the only one in the theater cackling like a maniac while charlie was desperately, aggressively jacking off in an attempt to get it up and to that i say: they didn’t see the vision. at one point rachel incredulously retorts to charlie’s comment about american gun culture and says “oh so it’s america’s fault now?” and well, like, yes. obviously. all that being said, i need to address the truly most horrific aspect of this film: charlie putting on his shoes before his pants and walking around the apartment in just a tank top, boxers and dress shoes.
- Ana4. april 2026I support women’s rights but more importantly I support women’s wrongs
- Mikey Smith3. april 2026Nice going Rob. You literally didn’t save Gotham.
- Aharon Grama13. april 2026Fantastic movie, such an emotional rollercoaster.
- Drew Swords10. april 2026The scene with the wedding photographer had me howling. This movie doesn’t tell you how to feel - it instead presents you with multiple character perspectives, painting a decidedly uncertain portrait of Emma. I reckon it’ll hit even more on a rewatch.
- Rick8. april 2026It’s you’re a big fan of the romcom genre like I am go see this now! Very sweet and endearing. This might overtake You’ve Got Mail as my all time fav.
- thomasrogers7534. april 2026“Shoot Grandparents TBD.” This movie is pretty funny but at times that second hand embarrassment makes you want to walk straight out of the theater That final 30 minutes were lowkey wild

- Doc Worm12. april 2026One of the best dark comedies I’ve seen in recent memory. An excellent script elevated by fantastic performances and a tense score. The ‘twist’, while unrealistic for me at first, is played into with a biting absurdist social commentary. The Drama will have you wondering if you should cringe or laugh throughout its entirety, but you’ll probably just end up doing both.
- Audrey Layman6. april 2026we listen and we don't judge
- jkljlk11975. april 2026"Emma, true love is complicated. It's about acceptance. Radical acceptance."
