- Mister Arn4. maj 2026“The Detective” moves at a slow, deliberate pace. It opens with a brutal murder, then leans on flashbacks that end up stalling the momentum more than helping it. The film’s treatment of homosexuality is harsh and often uncomfortable, clearly meant to reflect the bigotry of the time, but it can be difficult to sit with. If you stay with it, the story eventually pulls together, and the ending makes sense, though it feels a bit like Don Quixote chasing something that was never really there. I can’t say I enjoyed it, but Sinatra carries it in his own way, essentially playing Frank Sinatra, a self-contained, stubborn man who relies on no one but himself.
