- ርልዪረ26. januar 2025The Beach seems to divide opinion. It had such bad reviews on first release which I never could understand. DiCaprio is superb as Richard, and compliments the script very well with romance, action and psycho turns that were as disturbing as they were scary. The supporting cast are very good, and Danny Boyle`s direction was spot on. You would think by the title the plot would not be interesting, but the film is so much more. It`s a tale of intrigue, romance, jealousy and action, which is perfectly surrounded by the most beautiful environment. Some good extras on the dvd including an audio commentary by Danny Boyle. I have not read the book so please take this into account!
- tellum1. maj 2025During the first half of rewatching I thought “this isn’t as bad as I remember, maybe we all overreacted when it came out”. Then the second half went so far off the rails that it’s hard not to say this is one of the worst movies from Leo and Tilda. I am mystified why that direction was taken, what the point was, or even how I am supposed to feel about these characters. This is both bizarre in a good way and bizarre in a very bad way.
