Scooby-Doo

- Manuel Frangis25. marts 2025I just watched the 2002 live action Scooby-Doo movie and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This movie is pure nostalgic fun. I grew up with it and it still holds up as one of the most entertaining and ridiculous takes on Scooby-Doo ever made. It is weird, colorful, packed with energy, and somehow manages to be both a parody and a tribute to the original cartoon at the same time. The casting is perfect from top to bottom. Matthew Lillard as Shaggy is hands down one of the best casting choices ever. He completely becomes the character. The voice, the body language, the goofy charm—it is all spot on. He brings so much heart to the role and you can tell he really cares about getting it right. Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, and Linda Cardellini as Velma all bring something special too. Each one plays their part with a mix of campy fun and genuine effort. They all have moments to shine and they really feel like a team. The group dynamic is great and feels like the cartoon brought to life. Scooby himself looks pretty good for early 2000s CGI. He is expressive, funny, and holds up surprisingly well visually. He gets plenty of screen time and is involved in all the major scenes. Whether he is goofing around with Shaggy or getting caught up in the mystery, Scooby is right in the middle of the action. The setting is also a lot of fun. Mystery Inc. heads to a spooky island theme park called Spooky Island, and from there, things get wild fast. There is something going on behind the scenes and the gang has to figure it out. The movie throws in creepy characters, weird rituals, and strange goings on, all while keeping that Scooby-Doo vibe. The humor is goofy and very self aware. There are jokes that poke fun at the original show, but also a bunch of random physical comedy and silly moments that totally work. The movie knows exactly what it is. It never tries to be serious, and that is what makes it so good. It leans into the camp and delivers a fun ride that both kids and adults can enjoy. The soundtrack is also awesome. The early 2000s music gives it such a specific vibe and totally adds to the energy of the movie. It is the kind of soundtrack that sticks with you and adds a lot of personality to the scenes. The pacing is quick and the movie never really slows down. From the moment the gang gets to the island, there is always something happening. The mystery is fun, the twists are silly but satisfying, and the final reveal totally fits the tone of the movie. I give it 5 out of 5 stars not because it is a flawless film, but because of how fun and rewatchable it is. It brings the characters to life in a way that feels both funny and true to the source material. It is over the top, ridiculous, and packed with heart. Overall the 2002 live action Scooby-Doo is a total blast and one of the most fun adaptations of a cartoon ever made. It is goofy, entertaining, and full of Scooby-Doo spirit. I loved it as a kid and I still love it now.
- James Tang2. maj 2025Before Guardians of the Galaxy and the Suicide Squad reboot, James Gunn penned this cinematic masterpiece. This movie also deserves credit for giving Matthew Lilliard job security for the rest of his life as he has been the voice of Shaggy ever since. The CG is bad, the jokes are bad, the acting is bad, but I can't help but think that this is about as close to capturing the campy spirit of the Scooby Doo franchise as was possible at the time. Bonus half a star for all the shameless weed jokes.
- Jacob6 dage sidenAs far as nostalgic movies go, Scooby-Doo (2002) is in the top twenty for me. It even came out the year I was born, so I’m definitely biased towards it. It’s not a great movie, but it has some great casting and funny scenes. Also, the promotional material and soundtrack is such a vibe. I’m very interested in the production behind this movie, since it was intended to be R-Rated. In the 0.0001% chance that anybody from Warner Bros. is reading this, please add the R-Rated version to your queue of movies and cuts that you’re holding out on releasing. 2.7/5.0

- no1warr1or24. oktober 2025Classic Scooby Doo movie. Always an enjoyable watch
- Zokkiie12. marts 2026Honestly this is just a really fun, goofy time. It leans hard into the cartoon vibe and doesn’t take itself too seriously, which actually works in its favor. The cast clearly gets the characters, but Matthew Lillard absolutely steals the show. He is Shaggy — the voice, the mannerisms, everything. No wonder he ended up taking over the role after Casey Kasem retired. It’s a little cheesy in places and very early-2000s, but that’s part of the charm. Not perfect, but easy to enjoy if you grew up with the gang.
- Kenny10. august 2025Always loved this movie
- Ddoughnut30. oktober 2025This movie was PEAK stupidity
- joshuacottle3031. oktober 2025I guess for it’s time it wasn’t bad. Just can’t believe this is the same guy who wrote guardians and Superman 🤣
- mickerdoo30. oktober 2025I don't know how or why but I enjoy it. Cardellini is gorgeous in this even giving Gellar a run for her money. Lillard is perfect as Shaggy. Everyone loves Scooby. Plus you get Sugar Ray! I mean come on.
