Drengen Sosuke bor med sin dejlige mor på en klint med havudsigt. Og ligesom prinsen møder havfruen i H. C. Andersens eventyr, så samler han en dag guldfisken Ponyo op i brændingen. Den storøjede, røde hunfisk føler straks en fundamental samhørighed med sin nye menneskeven. Ved hjælp af lidt oceanisk magi udvikler hun lemmer og stemmebånd, så de kan lege og spise skinkemadder sammen på landjorden!

    Cute and weird. Not sure what I learned. Seems like it's based off an old fairytale or something. Definitely unique.

    One of my all-time favourite movies. It's beautifully illustrated and has wonderful meanings and delightful music. It's Devonshire a feel-good family movie.

    My first ever Ghibli movie and it tells a story about a cute little goldfish who wants to explore the human world and wants to become human. She even meets a boy and they have a wonderful relationship. It may not be my favorite Ghibli movie, it’s a good one for kids who want to get into Ghibli movies.
