Mima er træt af sin status som sukkersødt popidol. Hun stopper sangkarrieren og starter som skuespiller i en barsk kriminalserie. Hendes uskyldige image krakelerer mere og mere ekstremt (bl.a. via nøgenbilleder i bladene og gruppevoldtægt i tv-serien!), og hendes liv forvandles til et paranoiahelvede, hvor hun konstant befinder sig i grænselandet mellem fantasi og virkelighed. Efterhånden hjemsøges hun både af sit eget hadefulde popidol alter ego og en sindsforvirret fan, samtidig med at flere personer i hendes omgangskreds brutalt myrdes. Historien er så raffineret konstrueret, at man tror, det er løgn, men hold øjne og ører åbne - ellers...

    Definitely recommend!! Captures the feeling of loneliness, insanity,etc. perfectly. I think everyone should watch this movie at least once. Please please PLEASE watch perfect Blue!!! <3

    Too many dream sequences and misdirections, which made following along even more difficult. Beautiful animation and soundtrack.

    Perfect Blue is a remarkable story of Mima's identity struggles and her decent into madness with situations spiraling well out of her control. Throughout the film, you really can't tell what is real and what is not. It's only in the last 5 minutes that you really start to understand what really happened.... or do you? I can't help but feel that Perfect Blue was well ahead of it's time.

    Watched in 4K at Warren Regal East with Moore Note: Was met by a stranger as I entered the auditorium asking, “This is Perfect Blue, right?” Yeah, I think so. “Okay, just making sure because the group of children confused me!” Couldn’t handle that, had to sit in front of them and physically restrain myself from looking back until right before the SA scene….they were gone 😅

    Perfect Blue exceptionally blends aspects of horror, thriller, drama, crime, and mystery into a tight narrative about suffering a mental break under pressure. Making you question what's real, and what's in Mima's mind.

    This is a very dark psychological thriller. It's very rich in layers of insanity from the protagonist's point of view. This movie will have you thinking about what's considered real or in the main character's head. I say check it out.
