Knowing Ratings & Reviews
- Manuel Frangis20. februar 2025I just watched Knowing and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This movie completely caught me off guard in the best way because I expected a normal mystery thriller and instead got something that felt emotional, intense, and strangely beautiful all at once. From the moment the time capsule is opened and that sheet filled with numbers shows up, I felt pulled in like I was solving a puzzle myself. It is one of those openings that quietly grabs your brain and refuses to let go. I love movies that make me curious right away, and this one had me leaning forward, trying to decode every clue alongside the characters. Nicolas Cage plays John Koestler in a way that feels grounded and human, which really surprised me. He is not over the top or goofy like people sometimes joke about with Cage. Here he feels tired, stressed, and very real, like an exhausted dad just trying to protect his kid. That made everything hit harder emotionally. Instead of watching some action hero, I felt like I was watching a regular person slowly realizing the world might be ending, and that fear in his eyes made the whole story more believable. The disaster scenes honestly shocked me with how raw they felt. The plane crash especially is filmed in this long, chaotic way where the camera just follows the destruction without cutting away, and it almost feels too real. There is no dramatic posing or cool one liners. It is messy, loud, and tragic. People are scared and confused, and you feel helpless watching it. I really respect that choice because it treats the events seriously instead of turning them into cheap spectacle. It made my stomach drop, which almost never happens for me with movies. What I loved most though was the atmosphere. The music, the darker colors, and the quiet moments between John and his son give the film this heavy, thoughtful feeling the whole time. It is not just about numbers predicting disasters. It becomes about fate, faith, and whether anything we do actually changes what is coming. I kept thinking about my own family while watching it, and that emotional connection made the story feel personal instead of distant science fiction. By the time the ending came, everything felt bigger and more spiritual than I expected. Some people might see it as strange, but for me it felt peaceful and meaningful. It left me sitting there after the credits just thinking about life, destiny, and what really matters when everything else falls away. Movies that make me reflect like that always stick with me for days. Knowing is not just a thriller or a sci fi movie. It is a story about a father, a son, and trying to find hope when things feel completely out of control. It surprised me, moved me, and stayed in my head long after it ended, which is exactly what a perfect five star movie should do for me personally.
- DARTH VADER12. januar 2026Just an all round very creative, interesting and a cleverly written movie, in terms of how the concept of the film is, handled & utilised! I thought it was well crafted and really put together nicely, with its themes and the message that it's trying to convey. Also I loved the symbolism in it and the foreshadowing especially, with what the pebble meant, that was very well thought out and how it all fitted & connected everything. Nicolas Cage put in one of his best all round performances in years here. And only a couple of years previously, he was coming off the back of, one of the worst and most made fun of movies of all time The Wickerman Remake, a big turnaround for him this movie was I thought. I really loved how John was deciphering all of the numbers and what they all ultimately meant in the 1st Act, that was very creative and had my full attention the whole time. I also loved the movies tone, visuals, cinematography and how well shot it was and there some really good sequences laced throughout. The only issues I had with it is Rose Byrnes character, she was so frustrating in certain points of the film, such as when Diana doesn't listen to John and wants to do things her way, which wouldn't have worked by the way and then takes not only her daughter but Caleb as well and then drives off, that bit always annoys me. I also thought that as much as I loved the foreshadowing with the pebble, I did think with how they got there in the 3rd Act, they really cut corners with it, just purely how they got to that destination, it could have been done & handled in a more interesting way other than her scappering and taking the kids, because she wants to do things her way and then the half men & half aliens taking the two kids and getting there that way. It seemed they got there in an illogical way, rather than a putting the pieces together and then finding it just on time kind of way! They could have done it like that. And where there all driving to that destination quickly, as a race against the ⏰️ would have made it even more gripping & thrilling. Even though I had a couple of issues with it, this is one of those rare times that, it isn't going to effect my rating that I give this unique & brilliant movie. Overall Knowing is a hidden 💎 that's criminally underrated, this is imo is definitely one of Nicolas Cage's best movies and is a film that I can't recommend enough, it's so different as well I love it. 👍👍
- Stairwaytothestars4. august 2025Knowing I'd dislike it, I would have avoided KNOWING. What a misfire! Here are some excellent science fiction movies if you are interested: Alien, Aliens, Prometheus, The Mist, I Am Legend, District 9, Dawn of the Dead 2001, and a masterpiece called 28 Days Later.
- beth664316. december 2025Wow! What a great movie. Nicholas Cage is a great actor. I highly recommend this movie, it will have you on the edge of your seat.
- Andy Lee8. maj 2025Way too long, but had some funny moments sprinkled throughout (unintentionally). Overall not worth the watch because it’s long and boring. Needed to be trimmed down by like an hour. And rewritten and recast.
- Lindsay Dunlap13. december 2025great movie.
- Rocket9762. december 2025Was good one of his best performances. Perfect timing for upcoming solar activity.
- Gianni Cavuoto30. november 2025This is not a Nicolas Cage movies that's a throwaway....as we know he does a decent amount of them. A dramatic role that keeps you engaged and is a great and twisted story. For me the end is a bit of a let down but the rest of the movie is a good time so it worth a watch. Others may enjoy the ending, I didn't. It's not top of the heap for Nicolas Cage, but it's nowhere near the bottom.
- Kyle Pate18. november 2025Great buildup, then they blew it in the end...
- Peggy13. november 2025The only Nicholas Cage movie I REALLY like Great twists good ending.
- Dawn Jenkins15. september 2025One doesn't know if it's a murder mystery or a whodunnit or a love story until the very end, and I'm not going to spoil it for anyone else by telling you my conclusions. Watch it for yourself and see! You'll enjoy it!? 😁
- Eric Baum25. august 2025God. Nick Cage stinks.
- Johan Potgieter23. juni 2025This would be a fitting way for us to go. Destroyed by something we can't hope to control. Movie was enjoyable.
- Maria o Panos20. marts 2025Awesome
