På New Yorks gader kan man forveksle ham med en hvilken som helst trediveårig. Men han er Connor MacLeod, en af De Udødelige. 450 år gammel og dømt til et evigt liv siden fødslen på det skotske højland i 1536. Der er kun én ting der kan dræbe ham; at få hovedet hugget af af en anden udødelig. Pludselig rammes byen af en række frygtelige mord. Alle ofre bliver halshugget. Og morderen er en af MacLeods egne: den ondskabsfulde Victor Kurgan. Ved at dræbe andre udødelige absorbere han deres egenskaber, hvilket giver ham så enorme kræfter, at han kan regere verden. In my opinion, a true masterpiece. Has dated, but I rewatched again for about the 10th time and enjoyed every minute. A well spent 2 hours. Pre ordered the 40th Anniversary Ultra 4k Edition from Amazon, which will probably say sealed and sit on a shelf.

A century spanning sci-fi that still. manages to be extremely 80s. A lot of scenes are longer than need be. Nice Connery appearance.

A very long music video by Queen with a cameo from Sean Connery whose character is not from Scotland even though he is. It won the award for “Best Movie Ever” from Rickey Bobby.

My memory of this movie was significantly better than it ended up being on a re-watch. For people who have supposedly lived centuries or millennia, they're all truly terrible swordsmen. Lambert has all the charisma of a cardboard box and most of the others are no more than two-dimensional caricatures of actual characters. Clancy Brown plays The Kurgan with gleeful outrageousness, but that's not enough to carry the movie. While the premise itself is great (if not full of logical holes, but we can ignore those for a movie) and the music is excellent—with Queen lending some real hits to it—that's not sufficient to rescue a movie that just really is not executed (pardon the pun) very well.

My Scottish relatives tell me this is a documentary, but all the stars are suspiciously more geriatric than they were in the movie. Except Sean Connery? I guess he's the real highlander.

As lame as the special effects seem in the modern day, and how annoying the constant screaming and grunting are, this movie still gives an incredible sense of nostalgia of my younger years. Will definitely put it on my watchlist again in another ten years.

UPDATE: I just found out the guy who plays The Kurgan is also the voice of Mr. Krabs, and I am SHOOK The 80s was a WILD time for movies
