̸̳̔̎̎̎ ̿̿̅̅/ ̔̅̅ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿ ̿̿ ̿̿̅̅ ̿̿ The title says it all! I've been a fan of the James Bond movies since the late '80s, mostly the Roger Moore & Sean Connery films, although this was a GREAT introduction to Pierce Brosnan as 007. I also enjoyed the supporting cast, especially Izabella Scorupco as Natalya Simonov & Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp. I also was glad that a woman(Judi Dench) was cast as M. What I really enjoyed were the wild action scenes, especially when James Bond was chasing the villains in a tank! I, actually, found a lot of the scenes to be kind of funny. I, also enjoyed the scene on the train. In fact, now I have all the James Bond movies that contain fights that take place on trains("From Russia, With Love", "Live & Let Die", "The Spy Who Loved Me" & "Octopussy" are the others). I'm especially glad that the film was dedicated to the memory of Derek Meddings. I also enjoyed the special features, especially the "GOLDENEYE" video journal featurette as well as the "World Of 007" featurette. To sum it up, this is a fantastic movie and I recommend it to anyone who's a fan of James Bond, like myself, Pierce Brosnan, or both, because, believe, me, you'll LOVE it!!!

The best Brosnan Bond film by far. Under appreciated at the time but is now looked back on fondly. Its fun! Dont underestimate how big an impact the N64 game of this had as well

Such a fun classic! Even 20 years later this movie still holds on as one of the best James Bond ever made. So much in fact that im order to boost sale they called a James Bond related game Goldeneye, althought it had nothing to do with this movie. Worth it!

The best Bond movie ever made, starring the best Bond actor. Such a shame Brosnan was let down by the later movies, preventing him from being considered by more people to have the best portrayal. Sean Bean is also potentially my favourite Bond villain as well, the underlying story here is about as believable and deep as this era of Bond movie could get... which is to say, not hugely, but enough.

Some of the music just ruins this for me, otherwise great movie.

Better than my previous viewing and a comparison to the first draft script. This film, originally written for Timothy Dalton, ended up in the hands of Pierce Brosnon and a vastly different and much more toned down movie from the script's first draft. It stands on its own as another Bond outing that makes up its mind as to where it stands in the annals of Bond lore. This film is fun and quirky in the way that it seems new actors take up the role. Digging in a new niche for itself, and for a long time I didn't appreciate this film as much as I do now. It shows the evolution of action as it hardly slows itself down. Now, compared to the first draft, there are a few scenes that are similar, a smaller cast and while some of the ideas written into the first draft are used in later Brosnon outing this one is a skeleton of that story. It gets filled in with enough meat to give you a discount three course action flick that you still feel satisfied with afterwards. Finally, the line that makes or breaks this film from the first draft remains in the film and is diluted due to the addition of one letter. In the original dialogue Trevelyn says, "Do all the women help to quiet the voice of the one you didn't protect?" Referring to Tracy, Bond's wife from On Her Majesty's Secret Service and makes the fight very much personal for Bond. Instead the line we are given in the film is, "Do all the women help to quiet the voices of the ones you didn't protect?" This change of just one letter dilutes the impact of the line and reminds us that this is the first outing that was worth our time for this 007, especially since his reaction is so underwhelming as though he himself isn't familiar to the part he is playing. I do enjoy this film, ever so much more now that I have read the first draft and am able to correctly connect the GoldenEye 007 to previous 007's. However, it still falls short of what I'd argue is a much better hero for the series.

"For England James." GOLDENEYE is an excellent mix between the more serious Timothy Dalton films and the campier early entries. The soundtrack still gives me goosebumps (although that’s likely thanks to the N64 game) and Brosnan makes for an excellent Bond (again, probably because he’s the one I grew up with). An excellent addition to the 007 franchise!

I still really enjoy watching Pierce Brosnan as Bond, James Bond! He adds his own charismatic style boyish slash Remington Steele wit as well as a certain grittiness that makes up the 007 character! I hope he DOES rejoin the world of Bond in its latest incarnation with the cast & Amazon production!

This movie will always have a special place in my heart. This was my first Bond movie and it holds up. From the acting to most of the special effects hold up. Watch it if you haven't. Also it has one of the best games made.

Such a solid start for Brosnan as Bond—slick action, cool gadgets, and Sean Bean is a villain you actually remember. The story’s a bit standard Bond fare, but it’s fun and moves at a good pace. Brosnan’s got the charm down, and the set pieces are really entertaining. Classic Bond vibes with a modern edge—definitely keeps you hooked.

Such an iconic bond film and had one of the greatest games ever made after it. This brings back my childhood and will forever be in my top 5 Bond movies.
