Elvis-bedømmelser og anmeldelser
- Yakking With Friends22. august 2025I love it ELVIS it’s was my favourite movie of all time of 2022 I have it on blu ray and the soundtrack on cd and the movie poster from Amazon Canada
- Kevin Ward5. juli 2025Austin Butler is incredible. Spectacular performance combined Baz Luhrmann’s extravagant and excessive directorial flair is a match made in….Vegas. The similar over the top treatment to the mustache twirling super villain, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks), doesn’t work quite as well. (Maybe he should have had an actual mustache). Still, Hanks wild accent isn’t enough to derail this film as Butler’s showcase is the real showstopper. I’m not even sure whether or not they utilized any archive footage of Elvis himself. (And I don’t care to know). It’s the kind of movie magic I love. It’s not as deep or as dark as it could have been but it’s a fitting tribute to one of music’s greatest.
- stuhannaford5. februar 2026A mess, but enjoyable. As you’d expect from Luhrmann, it’s loud, bright, glitzy and above all else, theatre… there’s a metaphor in there somewhere, intended or not. As a biopic however, it’s quite shallow and a little tunnel visioned. The focus on the Colonel as the evil vulture is overdone throughout, and certainly not assisted by Hanks, whose performance feels at times focussed on the cartoonish caricature of the man, and the all too few moments of subtlety, are the actors best moments. There’s a planting of the flag for blame, glossing casually over the other influences and hangers on, whilst also minimising the King’s roll in his downfall… and for that matter, his rise. Considering his genius and seismic cultural impact on the world, he at times feels like a sideshow in his own story, and the accomplishments feel diminished, which is a shame. All that being said, Butler is an extraordinary draw, and captures the eyes and your attention whenever on screen with the kind of magnetism Elvis deserves. Far more than a look a like, with the obvious vocal adjustments, he embodies many aspects of the King’s energy, although perhaps not quite as much of the masculine appeal, that still endures today. As with all movies, and certainly biopics in recent years, there is a revisionist outlook, terrified of offence, and an eagerness to round off the edges that don’t meet modern standards of political correctness, and that overbearing focus does at times feel forced, and certainly not entertaining. There’s a continued theme of evil capitalism and greed vs the liberal, righteous, political activism, which does little justice to the actual narrative, especially considering Elvis’ reluctance to be drawn on such matters publicly, and the failure to recognise just how the industry has always worked this way, no matter how much the powerbrokers would have you think otherwise. Despite its long runtime, it’s enjoyable, without being astonishing, and whilst fans of his music might a toe-tap, true fans of the superstar will not learn anything new, whilst perhaps raise an eyebrow at a few moments. Flawed, but at times mesmerising… sound familiar?
- ርልዪረ31. januar 2025Glued to the screen twice. Brilliant acting, wonderful soundtrack. Enjoyed every minute. Took me back to years I'd forgotten about. I was never an Elvis fan but this film is just excellent and the choice of tracks and singing so good.....
- Hans Regenkurt1. februar 2026great movie, but main character/actor was too feminin compared to the real Elvis
- Mister Arn15. maj 2025I appreciated the narrative's unique perspective from Colonel Parker's lens, then positioning Elvis as the star. Hank's playing against type portrayed a character so unappealing that a mere glance at his face would stir disdain. His performance was perhaps too convincing, thereby skewing the film's balance. Despite this, I found the movie entertaining and recommend it to anyone with even a slight interest in Elvis.
- jackmeat23. november 2025My quick rating - 7.2/10. Another Oscar nominee for best picture. Austin Butler was excellent in his depiction of Elvis. Oftentimes, he was holding this movie together since Baz Luhrmann has a tendency to get a bit lost in his own flicks. One thing that stuck out to me in this is the complete lack of addressing the drug problem that Elvis had. I understand trying to keep with the all-American image, but if you are going to show the highs and lows of a legend's career such as this, you cannot just ignore a major component to how he was after returning from the Army. Putting aside my major gripe, I will say that the performance by Butler is very deserving of the praise and awards he has received. As far as the story goes, it is nice that it focuses a lot on Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks) and how he completely took advantage of Elvis from the very beginning. Another great performance is turned in by Hanks, who, as you are watching, you may forget who the story is actually about. If Parker isn't on the screen, he almost assuredly is narrating. He gets that much presence in the flick. I enjoyed getting a biopic on someone who was so iconic and absolutely changed the music industry, such as Elvis did. Sometimes it is very difficult to realize that one person made such an impact on America and even the world, the way he did. Getting a glimpse into his rise to fame and his influences helps bring a better understanding of him. I just wish it were a bit more encompassing, but I suppose the darker stuff can stay for the books, let the entertainment from this film at least enlighten the viewer to the rest of his story.
- mickerdoo16. september 2025Classic mismanaged musician story. An incredible talent that went through the struggles of fame. Outstanding performances. Hanks and Butler.
- Rowan Krzysiak12. februar 2025A confusing mess. It's hard to know if that's appropriate or not seeing as I feel I actually know less about Elvis having sat through this shit.
- Eric Bakke12. oktober 2024A bit reminiscent of Milos Foreman's "Amadeus", but in a very Baz Luhrmann sort of way.
- Jameslikesmovies24. juli 2025I love Tom Hanks so I really enjoyed this film
- Daryl Williams31. august 2025Well shot, enjoyed it all the way through it could do with being 10-15 mins shorter from a pacing point of view but that's about it.
- kennethsellers1627. juli 2025I paid for the movie to watch and it wouldn't play on my phone. This sucks. I need answers.
- Empowerment18. juli 2025A total waste of time, revisionist, fantasy history, made to try and keep the brand making money for a new generation - a failure. WATCH the real ELVIS or one of the many more accurate and insightful documentaries.
