As the boundary between social gap increases in China, the film tells the story of young Chinese fight to change their fate through studying. The story examines three different locations: in a poverty stricken town Huining, here students work like clockwork to enter university. In Beijing, university graduates are facing tough situation finding work. In Shanghai, rising middle class parents are searching for the best education method for their children. Although at different circumstances, these young people face the same pressure and uncertainties. The film examines contemporary China from the lives of young people, by capturing their energy, hopes and worries; and questioning whether studying can bridge the social gap, if so, at what cost?
