I’m very surprised how much I liked this. I’m not even certain that I’ve seen the previous films in this series, though, I feel I have a familiarity with them through some form of osmosis. (Or maybe I just happened to be sitting next to my wife as she watched them). This all felt very nostalgic is a good way, but also genuinely touching. Zellweger is note perfect for this role and it’s hard to imagine anyone else ever playing the part. Have seen Leo Woodall in a few different things this year, but I’m really looking forward to seeing Tuner. Have been hearing tremendous buzz about that one.

Bridget is back and how. A return to form after a disappointing third instalment. A laugh fest with her as she navigates widowhood and life beyond Mark Darcy ably companioned by old friend/foe Daniel Cleaver. Lovely chemistry and familiarity between the two. A lot of laughs, a few tears and clearly benefiting from Helen Fieldings gifted writing of the lovely Bridget. Definitely a great watch and as usual Renee is on form and up for anything 💚

Predictable, yes, but a very different Bridget. The laughs are fewer, but that isn’t a bad thing. It’s a look at grief, getting through it, and not wallowing. The loss of loved ones, and youth, with the passing of time … all these daunting things that become more apparent as the years mount. However, it offers that sense of hope that her diaries have always had, optimism in the face of adversity… with more than the odd moment of comic catastrophe along the way. Bridget keeps going, keeps smiling, and keeps hoping. Funny, heartwarming, uplifting and enjoyable.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025) - A Mature, Heartfelt Farewell With Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Renée Zellweger once again proves why she is Bridget. Her performance is nuanced, capturing both the humor and the bittersweet emotional weight of this final chapter. The film embraces a more mature tone compared to its predecessors, balancing comedy with moments of real depth. Longtime fans will appreciate the return of familiar faces, making this feel like a reunion of sorts. Gone are some of the exaggerated slapstick elements that defined the earlier films; instead, this adaptation leans into heartfelt storytelling. There are plenty of laughs, but also moments of genuine emotion-I found myself tearing up at times. Given that this marks the end of Bridget's cinematic journey, there's a sense of nostalgia and melancholy, especially for those who grew up with her. It's not just a good adaptation; it's a fitting sendoff to a beloved character. While saying goodbye to Bridget is bittersweet, the film does her justice.

I really liked it, I thought Renee is over did a great job and Hugh Grant was fantastic as always.

It's pretty bleak and impressive to be honest, the main character was mostly annoying of all things, the story is trivial. Maybe ok for fans, I guess.
