The narrative relies heavily on fiction and, much like the 1997 original, spends a significant amount of screen time focusing on romantic subplots. It is best approached with tempered expectations; there is no use going in looking for a gritty historical epic. If you view it purely as a light, mindless entertainer, you might find some enjoyment in it. Ultimately, it’s a standard, one-time watch that serves as a decent time pass before you quickly forget it.
