Kuroneko is staged like a play, filmed like a ballet, and feels like a waking dream. Diving straight in to action and plot in the first scene, there is very little down time and the pacing remains on point throughout. Fascinating facial hair choices, in particular eyebrows. Notable quote: “Mother! Are you a cat or a ghost?” Content warning for rape. 5 stars for beauty, 3 stars for horror, 4 stars overall.
