Daniel Day Lewis and Sean Bean together are riveting. Their scenes are intermingled with some kind of back story involving a teen and his mother. I actually just skipped through all of these because they were boring and I still enjoyed the film

Not as good as I hoped but better than I expected. I’m gay.

Anemone takes its bearings from Event Horizon (1997), treating the North English woods like dim steel corridors that bend toward a furnace rather than a clearing, and Ronan Day-Lewis stages the drama with the same moral geometry that made Paul W. S. Anderson’s film a masterpiece. Ray Stoker, played by Daniel Day-Lewis, edges toward memory like Dr William Weir walking into the red glow, while Jem Stoker, played by Sean Bean, carries the Captain Miller instinct to seal dangerous doors before the whispers get in. Nessa, Samantha Morton, provides ballast and witness, and the younger figures Brian and Hattie, Samuel Bottomley and Safia Oakley-Green, move like junior crew asked to read instruments they barely understand, with Mr Jarvis, Paul Butterworth, manning the village threshold as a pragmatic airlock. The shared past functions as a gravity drive that keeps cycling up, the cabin hums like an engine room where apologies are keycards, and wind over moss replaces Latin in the ducts. Day-Lewis shoots faces like heat-blued metal, cuts with calm precision, and lets each decision click forward until reunion and reckoning become the same sealed door, the one you approach knowing it might open onto the pit.

Beautiful cinematography and gorgeous landscapes. The story is of a simple man fighting his own demons but the acting and emotional delivery is top-notch. Great first film for Ronan and it’s so wonderful to see Daniel back doing what he does best.

A contemplative, slow reveal of a man who is tortured by life, and the torture he then inflicts on the people around him. Quiet, brooding but also tense and unsettling. Beautiful cinematography and sound, with lingering shots that force you to examine the imagery. The antithesis of most films released these days, it feels so different when we expect jump cuts every three seconds and constant camera changes during dialog. The acting from the four primary characters was exceptional, grounded and real with the true pain of regret visible in each word and glance. Well worth the watch.

Thank you for making this motion picture. It's a real slow burn that is powerful and mighty. Ronan takes his time to let the story unfold and tell itself. Nothing is rushed, ever. The movie shows like reading a book, there are chapters and it's evident when a chapter is over. Sound is a really important part of this movie. The sound was so intelligently used in a way I have not seen before and will be evident only in good theaters that have really good sound systems. Can't wait for this to be released on DVD so I can watch it agian and agian. This should go down as one of Daniel's best performances and Ronan's first.....glad to see he is following in his mother's footsteps. Thank you Day-Lewis' for making this movie, Rebecca you must be so proud!!!

This movie could have been shortened by two hours, a real sleeping pill!

One of the most boring movies I have ever seen.

The film stagnates quite a bit all throughout but Daniel Day Lewis gives a mighty powerful performance in this claustrophobic feeling of a motion picture.
