Alan and Dana are falling in love. They are both single working parents who have little time to indulge in their own happiness, but love has hit them both like a bolt from the blue that was there third day and you know what that means? Being intimate for the first time, however the government has other plans. In this new society access to condoms is government regulated. Men have to apply to be sexually active and access to protection can be denied to them on "moral and religious grounds". 3rd date is a political satire, dressed up as a romantic comedy that explores what would happen if men's bodies and sex lives were controlled by the government.
