This movie was so good! It has no right being a part of modern cinema. It feels like a plot that jumped straight out of the 90’s and early 2000’s and revised all the wall phones (keeping one 😉) with cellular devices, modern love, and an elderly Sally Field. The character arcs of every single character is astonishing to be crammed into a 1hr and 53m film. Especially Marcellus! I found myself rolling with laughter at his every line. The callback to “There is a right way and a wrong way to do things” at the end really hit me. I was hoping throughout the whole film that they’d have something like this. I 100% recommend if you want a lighthearted, yet deeply rooted and emotional modern age classic.
Remarkably Bright Creatures
The Five-Star Weekend
This was AMAZING. I would watch this again in a heartbeat. The emotion, the drama, the romance, the death, the sorrow, the secrets, the lies, the pure nostalgia. Such a wonderful story with a wonderful cast. Jennifer Garner leads the story with a heartbreaking realization of sorrow. All she wants is to have her friends by her side, but more and more keeps falling apart. Her character, Hollis, reacts to everything with love and understanding, until she finally breaks and falls apart in one of Jennifer Garner’s best acting performances I’ve ever seen. I finished this in two days. The relationship between the characters on and off screen is astounding. I don’t even feel worthy of watching this show. There’s a reason it’s called The FIVE-STAR Weekend. It deserves every single one.
You can’t get much better than this. Andor is the perfect example of drama, romance, sci-fi, physiologic, (and even an added pinch of comedy) and get this: it’s in George Lucas’ Star Wars universe. What sounds like a crazy and ambitious idea (because it is) quickly hooked me in and I finished it in about a week! I couldn’t see this show without Tony Gilroy spearheading it. The dialogue, the action, the WORLDBUILDING. This is pure television. And not to mention the outstanding performances from Diego Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly, and my personal favorite: Denise Gough and Dedra Meero. Andor had me rooting for the heroes, sorry for the villains, and at the edge of my seat from first episode to last. Would 100% recommend any day to anyone.
