Nick Crew is an American visual-effects supervisor at Eyeline Studios. He studied film production at Loyola Marymount University, where an internship in the VFX department of Constantine (2005) sparked his interest in pursuing visual effects as a profession. During his early career, he worked as a data wrangler, coordinator, and assistant VFX coordinator on major studio productions, including Poseidon (2006) and Eragon (2006).
Crew joined Scanline VFX in 2010, contributing as an Environment and Integration Lead on Hereafter (2010). His work on the film's large-scale tsunami sequence earned him a 2011 Visual Effects Society Award nomination for Outstanding Compositing in a Feature Motion Picture, shared with Joe Farrell, Jamie Hallett, and Christine Lo. Over the following years at Scanline, he advanced through compositing, look-development, and supervision roles, serving as VFX Art Director on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).
As a VFX Supervisor, Crew has overseen effects for a wide array of films and series. His work on Tomb Raider (2018) involved supervising nearly 300 shots, including major water and shipwreck sequences. In Captain Marvel (2019), he managed complex energy-driven effects and large-scale crash environments, while The Adam Project (2022) required extensive CG environment creation and intricate destruction simulations. He also supervised effects for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024).
Crew's supervision on the live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024) earned him a 2024 Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie. The nomination was shared with Emanuel Fuchs, Khalid Almeerani, Ross Lee Wilkinson, Thomas Schelesny, Jabbar Raisani, Adam Chazen, Marion Spates, and Niklas Jacobson.
