Anton Lachmann learns from his former war comrade Ewald Koch that an empty arbor is to be leased from the allotment gardeners' association Die Laubenpieper e.V. Relaxing in the great outdoors has been a dream of father Lachmann for many years, who works as a shunter for the tram in Berlin.
