But in the ’90s, the trend was to turn hit movies into “[Insert Blockbuster Name]: The Series,” and most of them suffered the same fate. The RoboCop series stripped away the violence, the satire, and the brutal corporate cynicism that made the film iconic. What was left was a watered-down version of a character and world that demanded grit and bite. While it had a few interesting ideas and the suit still looked great, censorship and budget limitations turned it into a hollow downgrade. A real shame, considering its potential.
