With the help of two kind hearted boys, first Carrot, then Cedric, he tries to find his way back to his own time, armed only with spells, superstition and a frog named Touchwood. Geoffrey Bayldon’s performance is pure gold: eccentric, heartfelt and hilariously confused. The show blends gentle comedy with a wistful sense of displacement, a man out of time, clinging to magic in a world that runs on machines. Watching it again feels like opening a dusty storybook from your childhood, one filled with laughter, wonder and a touch of melancholy. It’s quirky, charming and deeply British in the best way.
