- jackmeat2025年12月7日My quick rating - 5.2/10. The poster got me. This girl has to have a new level of stupidity in trying to get away with something. McKaley Miller plays the high school girl who invites herself to a heaven and hell party with an ulterior motive. But she seems to stumble across something that is far more sinister than her attempt to get a letter of recommendation from some rich kid. At the beginning, we are informed of a girl who has gone missing at school. This comes into play at this party since it appears the host, along with his buddies, has some idea as to where she is. And after our heroine (Miller) stumbles across proof of this, she must fight to survive since the rich kids aren't going to allow their secret to get out. The acting is a bit off since the kids are all pretty bland and are handed some pretty shitty dialogue to work with. On the flip side, when the parents show up, we are actually given some good performances that were above the level of this one. Both Dermot Mulroney and the recently passed Anne Heche really carried the latter half of this one. They really tried to keep you guessing, but unfortunately, the story wasn't very in-depth at all. It won't take you long to see where this one is going, even after the attempted twists are presented. The action itself wasn't too believable either, not because it was impossible, just improbable that people would be so stupid. I weighed out the good against the bad here and ended up with that score, so depending on which parts jump out at you, you may take it quite differently either way. But I don't think you'll be pissed when the credits roll, well, maybe a little bit only because.....no spoilers :)
- sadmuppet2025年8月25日I don't get the positive reviews to be honest. In the first 5-10 minutes, you're building that it's either going to go "Final Girl" route or typical route for the main protagonist. The only question I had was "Is the Father in on it" when they mentioned he was a Congressman. After that it was just stupidity central whereby the decisions made by Eden were just not plausible - and then it was just dumb choices one after another, even to the ending where you would find yourself going "Why WHY WHYYYYYYYYY are you doing that" because there's just no way any normal, rational, person would do most (or in my case, all) of the choices made in the situations. I get it's a movie, but normal people do not function this way and if they do, well they're beyond help (and any form of common sense). It just feels they're making every single incorrect choice to advance a story instead of making the sane, rational ones to either get out of the situation OR to come unstuck that they were doomed. If you're going to make a movie "grounded in reality" then apply "What would I do" logic not "What could I do to make the worst of a bad situation" and run with it.
