So, it's not exactly the point to call this movie good or bad, when the whole point was to ruin the franchise. If you are curious, just go in watching this for the joke that it is. However, I'd argue that would be pointless too, because even then it's a pretty miserable watch.

- Michael Surber2025年5月12日I rewatch this movie frequently. I loved all three of the original Matrix films and this is a fitting afterward in my opinion. It's not perfect but I still think it's a brilliant film. Loved getting to see Tiffany break free from Chad probably the best, lol. Great in 4k quality along with a dynamite soundtrack to go with. It gets better every time I watch it.

(As I'm sure many others were as well) I was very happy with what I watched, my only peeve is since Keanu Reeves was going to shave his head anyway... I'm disappointed that he looked like John Wick, and not like Neo/Thomas Anderson... shouldve had short hair and no beard. Other than that, I loved it. I hope they run with that ending and make another movie.

- Darren Webster2025年4月7日I've been a fan of the Matrix since watching the first one in 1999. Being a gamer and going into technology, the tech noire behind it dragged me in, the philosophy of it kept me rewatching and analyzing. Digging at the strings of what was really going on behind all the flash and pazazz of the first films. Now to say Resurrections is bad is disengenious, because it isn't necessarily bad. It is at first. I remember watching this during the pandemic and thinking "what a stupid piece of fan service hot garbage." Then I watched it again. I started picking up on something the film, very honestly, just flat out tells you. WAKE UP. Resurrections does what the first films never did. It told you flat out, on the nose, in your face that we live in a prison already. It literally tells you this and spells it out for you. There's no hiding behind the curtain because it burns the curtain down. See, everyone remembers the first 3 films for ground breaking special effects and amazing set pieces and a good vs evil, underdog coming up story. But what most forget, or just flat out didn't grab on to was the message it was trying to tell you. Resurrections gives you all that special effects and mostly awesome set pieces, the good vs evil story just like it's predecessors. But what Resurrectiosn does better than the first 3 films is what they had originally wanted to do in the first place, namely, expose the lies and the trap we're all in. It's almost ironic that to tell us that we're all in a prison that it had to tell it through a medium and a piece of technology directly tied to it. It's funny that The Analyst explains out exactly how we're manipulated today to feel certain ways and why it's essenbtial for controlling the population, even though for him it's about more BTU's from the copper-tops. Is some of it a bit... Silly? Most certainly. Replacing Mr Smith with a guy that looks like he belongs on the set of Bay Watch was silly and while I love Neil to death, he's just not that great of a villain. The shrink's the bad guy... Yeah... I'm really scared. The "real" world Morpheus, likely cause Fishbourne was like "naw fam, I don't need a paycheck" is pretty pathetic, don't get me wrong, Mateen did his best and there were a number of occassions where he nearly nailed it, but he's just not Fishbourne. Smith's return was just a crotchety shadow of her character and her reaction and treatment of Neo doesn't make sense. Some of the "friendly machine" designs were absolutely out of place, like something you'd see in an anime, not in a Matrix film. I will say this though, I really, really liked Bugs. She's a GREAT addition to the world and Henwick did a bang on job. Okay, last part, soundtrack. It passes muster. Barely. There's some really nice throwbacks to the original soundtrack. I especially liked the easy listening version of Clubbed to Death. But unlike the original films, the soundtrack here is mostly forgettable. Maybe it was a budget thing. One thing I really missed was the different camera treatments that you got in the predecesors. The slight tinting towards green while in the Matrix and a good use of film grain to push the idea that you were inside the simulation. Back in the real world it was all blue and cold feeling, lonesome even, bleak, desperation. This one was missin those sybtle bits of cinematography which is a real shame. Overall, it's not bad once you've watched it a few times and looked past the fake paint job that is plastered all over it and really try and see the message it's trying to tell you.

Nothing more than a bunch of forgettable faces and a bunch of familiar faces and a whole bunch of flashbacks to a movie that was once considered good. This was nothing more than an attempt at getting some attention from a director that never really made it out of the Matrix's shadow. Pathetic, really.
- jackmeat2025年8月24日My quick rating - 7.5/10. Glad to see a down-to-earth explanation of how this exists. One of the few times I must insist that you either rewatch the first 3 or check them out for the first time. You will need the backstory since often throughout this flick, you are seeing scenes from them, and it makes it that much better to follow. Massive kudos for this flick going so dark and violent towards the end. Once you realize what is going on for a few minutes, you'll see what I mean. I'll gladly disagree with the IMDB masses here. I am fairly sure that following the flock and being confused by the story led the charge in their ratings. There is nearly no way to explain the plot here without spoilers, so I'll be vague. I might take a deep dive on this one later since I have some opinions here. And as far as how this one came to be, it was basically pointed out already. I'll leave it at that. If you need a Valentine's Day love story, here you go. You'll also get some top-notch action to go with your feel-good romance. Neil Patrick Harris is a nice addition here as the analyst who brings things together within this new Matrix. A nutshell idea is Keanu Reeves as a video game designer who has flashes of what seems to be himself in another world. And when he runs into Carrie-Anne Moss at a coffee shop, they both swear they know each other. I think you know from there it is going to head down the rabbit hole, and yes, it does so full-on. I really like how self-aware the makers are in this flick. It is public knowledge that Warner Bros. told Lana Wachowski that they were going to make this movie with or without her help, and she used that to take a jab directly at them in this flick. Not only the obvious dig there, but also at the fans themselves in making light of how completely absorbed they are in everything Matrix-related. Those bits of humor give subtle changes of pace as Reeves struggles with the whole situation all over again and tries to differentiate that from his sanity. All nicely written, and how the characters interact to keep the illusion whole. The supporting cast is quite good and a necessary component, as this seemingly is setting up a reboot of the whole scenario. If you didn't see that coming, well, I am pretty sure you missed plenty along the way. The action is choreographed really well to go along with the needed CGI to make everything happen. The fight scenes are again there for the fans of seeing an aging Reeves still utilize his kung fu skills. Finding a way to breathe life into a story that had an amazing start and did run to a satisfying conclusion isn't an easy task, but one that has been pulled off about as good as can be expected. - showson12025年7月20日I am a huge fan of the original matrix. I saw it at least 10 times in the theater and countless times since then. I know some people don’t like this installment, in the series, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had much more of that classic matrix feel, than matrix two or three did, and I enjoy it from start to finish every time I watch it.
