An American patrol has to cross behind enemy lines by skis in order to blow up an important railroad bridge. The task is made harder by conflicts between the platoon's veteran sergeant and its inexperienced lieutenant and by constant attacks by pursuing German troops.

“Ski Troop Attack” is obviously a low-budget film, but Roger Corman makes the most of what he has. Most of the action takes place in the mountains, and while the sparse soundtrack reveals the film's limited budget, there's enough action and tension to keep things moving. Instead of trying for large-scale battles they couldn't afford, the story stays focused on a small patrol behind enemy lines, and that approach works. It feels a bit like an episode of “Combat!,” though even that television series probably had a bigger budget. It's not a great war movie, but it's a solid, watchable B-film that makes good use of limited resources.
