Sinners could easily have felt like another tropey movie, another entry in a long line of movies covering this type of topic. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to see how unexpected and original this movie truly felt. There are certainly influences throughout, but the movie unfolds in an unpredictable way that kept me engaged. The first half is methodically paced before everything escalates in the movie's explosive second half. There are some staggering sequences throughout with searing imagery paired with a masterful score from Ludwig Göransson. While there are plenty of shlocky genre touches, there is a surprising amount of thematic depth to Coogler's directing, with subtle symbolism and cultural context that makes this more than just a standard no-thrills ride. The movie balances this with the thrills and entertainment factor though, never letting it feel overtly allegorical. This is best demonstrated by numerous moments of levity that are expertly placed throughout the movie to add comedic relief in the intensity. The acting is immersive, and even if I was not necessarily blown away by Michael B. Jordan's twin turn, I did genuinely believe there were two separate characters on screen and could easily identify who was who. It's Miles Caton who really feels like the performer of the movie though. All of these elements combine to give this movie a signature that feels masterful and distinctive, and you can't ask for anything better when leaving an IMAX theater. This is a fun, thrilling movie with depth and expert craftsmanship, catch it on the biggest screen you can. And stick around because there is a crucial mid-credits scene that should honestly just have been put before the credits rolled.

It’s a horror movie about vampires in the American South, 1932, but that’s all just set dressing. It’s such an intoxicating blend of genres, a movie that is a melting pot just like the cultural heritage this movie explores. A lot of times when one actor plays two characters in a movie, it’s neat but the performances suffer, it feels like a gimmick, but Michael B. Jordan is able make Smoke and Stack feel like two distinct, living, breathing people. It’s part crime-thriller, there’s a dash of a coming-of-age story, drama, romance, notes of a musical, it’s a stew packed with spices, and the horror simmers and simmers before coming to a rolling boil, kinda like FROM DUSK TIL DAWN. I would have watched four hours of this. I want more. It’s gorgeous, you’ve gotta see it on the biggest screen possible to appreciate the scope, the aspect ratio changes – the Cinematographer was Autumn Arkapaw, one of far too few women in charge of the camera. The sound track is alive, it’s the main character, the pulse of the movie but the score, by Ludwig Göransson who just won an Oscar for composing OPPENHEIMER and won previously for composing BLACK PANTHER, is the fangs always lurking underneath. There’s so much subtext to sink your teeth into here, the way Coogler brings in Asian immigrants, the Irish, Indigenous People – and makes it a story about all of these hardworking people, the people who bulit the real America just trying to cut loose, be free. What does freedom look like? Drinking deep, playing cards, singing from the gut about things you can’t explain you just know, dancing until you sweat; and sex, desire, can’t forget that, the writhing pulsing primal urges. But the powers that be warn all who have toiled and suffered under the sun all day to make them safe and rich that any who engage in this wanton abandon are SINNERS. They say, "Yes, you’ve worked our fields, yes, you’ve fought our wars overseas but don’t you dare sing and dance and be merry on this land you’ve bled for." Go see Sinners. Trust me, you’ve earned it.

This is hands down the best movie I’ve seen in years. I’m not even being dramatic—Sinners connected to me emotionally in a way few movies ever do. The character development? Flawless. The symbolism? Chef’s kiss. The music? Oh my God the music. It’s the kind of soundtrack you don’t just hear—you feel it in your bones. And I’m not even a hardcore blues fan like that. That’s how good it is. I saw Sinners TWICE—and if you’re near a 70mm IMAX screening? Run. It’s absolutely worth it. That one scene with the dancing? Literal goosebumps. Unreal. Some people don’t call this a horror movie, but to me, it’s cultural horror at its finest. Not everyone fears the same things—and Sinners understands that on a level most movies never touch. Michael B. Jordan gave a phenomenal performance, but honestly? The whole cast crushed it. No weak links. Just pure storytelling, heart, and atmosphere. Not seeing Sinners should be illegal, frankly.

Hot take - but I should’ve walked out of the theater when vampires who met 5 mins prior broke out in a choreographed song & dance number. 2 hours of my life gone, a bellyache from popcorn, and nothing to show for it but a plot that never showed up.

Way over Hyped. SO, I don't understand why this has got such high rating, its not a bad film, but its also over rated, I mean its a good movie, but nowhere is it as good as people are making out, I don't think its the best film of the year, Infact i don't even think I would watch it again,, Don't get me wrong, its decent film, But no way as good as people make it out to be

SINNERS is certainly one of the great films of 2025 and may even become a cult title in the future. The work stands out for its emotional intensity and disturbing approach to human morality, with a narrative that manages to maintain tension throughout its duration, exploring themes such as guilt, regret and the search for redemption, without resorting to easy or simplistic solutions. The film follows a group of characters who, in a subtle way, find themselves confronted with their own flaws and choices that mark them irreversibly. The performances are one of the film's strong points, with Michael B. Jordan playing two roles brilliantly as the twins Smoke and Stack. However, it is young actor Miles Caton who steals all the spotlight in his absolute debut on the big screen. The entire main cast convincingly conveys the psychological complexities of their characters, as well as the motivations and internal conflicts that make them real and relatable despite the extreme circumstances. Although, in rare moments, the exploration of emotions could be more subtle, conveying a somewhat forced intensity. SINNERS is visually fantastic, using sublime and dark photography, which complements the oppressive atmosphere of the plot. Combined with this technical aspect, the greatest asset of this work is its electrifying soundtrack! The way music interacts with the image reveals a remarkable mastery of sound art, becoming an essential part of the cinematic experience. There is no doubt that SINNERS is also one of the best vampire films released to date and it is recommended that it be seen in a movie theater (preferably in IMAX), which will make this experience unforgettable.

I am not a big vampire fan, the landscape is littered with crappy vampire films. This film however gels so well with the storyline and the magnificent cast. Seeing Buddy Guy was the icing on top of the cake. Ryan Coogler adds another feather in his cap with yet another homerun of a film. Michael B. Jordan does double duty in identical brothers, A great supporting staff with Delroy Lindo with yet another strong performance. RT gave Sinners 97% for a reason. One of the best films out in many years.

Absolutely excellent film, probably the best vampire movie since Abigail & Nosferatu, but prior to that maybe Bram Stokers (apparently 2024/25 was the year of vampire resurgence). That said, this film was gritty, beautifully shot and had an excellent soundtrack. The film takes place with some gangsta twins in Mississippi moving back home to open a blues club/dance hall for hard working field workers (1930’s). On opening night everything falls apart. But the film is much more than that, it’s a testament to amazing blues from that era and the resiliency that African Americans went through during the klan times. Ryan Coogler is quickly becoming a star writer and director. This is a must watch,

Sinners is essentially a Black reimagining of From Dusk Till Dawn—but elevated in every way. It takes a familiar premise and transforms it into something richer, more ambitious, and far more compelling than you could ever expect.

Just when I was starting to think 2025 was shaping up to be a rough year for cinema, Ryan Coogler gives us one of the great modern American films. I know that Sinners has dominated the conversation for the last few weeks, but that is for such incredibly good reason. This film feels like a revelation. Not just in a lackluster release year so far, but in the general cinema landscape. It’s astounding how much beauty is captured in each frame and the dedication to keeping film a relevant medium in the modern age is truly heroic. But what’s most impressive to me is this film refuses to be just one incredible thing. It transcends genre and defies expectation at every turn. Not satisfied with merely being a thrilling and sexy supernatural blockbuster, the film does masterful storytelling and creates a wide array of characters that leap off the screen. The lush American southern gothic genre has never been more perfectly utilized both thematically and visually. As a connoisseur of vampire media, this film feels like a gift. A story that is so rich it feels like thematic maximalism, delving into the disturbing and bloody history of the American south and finding beauty amongst the horror, with characters so engaging they feel like real people, and the entire story takes place over the course of a single day? It’s honestly almost too impressive to believe. This film feels definitively like not only one of the best of the decade, but one of the great modern American stories, that is destined to be studied through the ages. Not only a fantastic representative for the medium of film but a marvel of human artistry.
