12岁的DJ(米切尔•莫索 Mitchel Musso 饰)是个爱幻想的家伙。
As told by Rob Schrab and Dan Harmon on the legendary Harmontown Podcast, they were going to be with producers for a pitch meeting,, at the last second Schrab just said the words, "monster...house" as a throw-away idea. And despite the 10 other developed pitches, the producers were only interested in Monster House. THEN, Harmon and Schrab had to reverse engineer the plot and figure out: how the heck does a house become a monster? Overall, I think they did pretty well despite the obvious problems with some of the plot holes. There are some particular things about the movie that are completely Dan Harmon, and Harmon's deep fans will know them when they see them. For example, just as everyone knows Quinton has a thing for feet, Harmon has a thing for redheads. One can also infer a lot of DNA that would end up in Harmon's Community. Dan Harmon spoke a lot about how each of the seven community characters represented a piece of his own personality split up into these essential, yet broken characters. You can see that same thing happening with these characters, but on a smaller scale. The two boys represent one who is self-conscious and intelligent and the other who is comfortable in their own skin yet reckless and awkward in the world. Both of them are oddities to the smart cute girl in their neighborhood from a different part of town who is strategically targeting the area for sales. Anyway.... The point is if you pay attention, you can see something personality traits in each of the three main characters, including the five supporting characters, that would be features of the characters in Community. Ultimately Rob and Dan only get story credit, so I wonder what their version of the script was like before it was rewritten and credit given to a third person. I don't know the story behind that, so I wonder how much the harmonian/schrabian signature humor was in the original version.

The plot is pretty original with the whole house being the literal monster on the big screen. The whole "kids vs unknown" aspect is held up to a high standard by producers from Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, which gives it a strong Goonies vibe. Don't let the early motion capture CGI animation to be a put off. The way it was implemented makes it look almost stop motion quality.
- stuhannaford2025年11月18日For an animated, child friendly horror, it’s actually quite good. It’s certainly got elements that will appeal to kids of the 80’s and 90’s, with a kind of coming of age feel at times, mixed with a little Rear Window. The animation isn’t particularly perfect, but there is a warmth to the characters that lets you look past that. Some great voice actors to carry the older cast members, and although there isn’t necessarily a huge sense of dread, you do find yourself rooting for the kids as they battle away.
- Shaydeknight2025年11月8日Monster House is a terrific story built on a wonderful concept, one that blends childhood curiosity, suburban legend, and supernatural mystery into a heartfelt adventure. The film is well written and directed, with fantastic voice work from the cast that gives the characters warmth and personality. It's a genuinely clever take on the "scary neighbour" trope, familiar from films like Home Alone or The 'Burbs, but still fresh and engaging thanks to its emotional underpinnings and sense of humour. Where the film falters is in the technology. While it was impressive in 2006, the animation hasn't aged particularly well. The textures are flat, the environments sparse, and the character movements often stiff, especially when compared to contemporary CGI. Watching it now feels a bit like revisiting Pixar's Tin Toy, which was groundbreaking in its day, but undeniably dated in hindsight. It's not ruinous to the experience, but it's noticeable enough to pull you out of the film now and then. Still, the heart of Monster House lies in its story, not its pixels. As the plot unfolds and the kids learn the truth behind the haunted (possessed?) house, the film reveals an unexpectedly moving message about love, loss, and letting go. That emotional core gives it a lasting appeal that transcends its ageing visuals. In short, Monster House remains a strong entry in the animated adventure genre. It's funny, eerie, and surprisingly touching. Its technology may show its age, but its story and spirit haven't lost a bit of charm.
- Amine2025年10月31日🎃 My thoughts after watching Monster House 3D: A really fun and charming animated film with a great spooky vibe and memorable characters. The story still holds up well, and the humor mixes nicely with the darker moments. However, the 3D effects feel pretty average — not bad, but nothing special. Still, the movie itself is enjoyable and perfect for a Halloween watch! 👻 ⭐ Personal Rating: 7.5 / 10
