To a lovely stranger from a cadet - an honours student in military and political training...' - romantic correspondence occupies minds of girls, pupils of a provincial orphanage school - Tanya corresponded with Konstantine for a year, but lately there have been no letters from him. On the cherished day of coming of age, Tanya leaves the orphanage and goes to the village to settle in an old parental home. A real adult life, finally, is ahead and there is so much to be done - to find a loved one, to go to college, and just to live!.. However this 'adult life' immediately puts serious trials on her fragile shoulders - Having barely recovered, Tanya goes to work as a village postman and gets to know the locals.
