沙皇专制时期俄国的一个村子中，农夫特维（托波尔 Topol 饰）与妻子女儿住在乌克兰族的犹太人居住区里，虽然经常忍受来自非犹太居民的歧视，他却一直恪守传统生活着。村里来了一位贫穷的俄罗斯青年菲得卡，特维赏识他的才学，把他聘为家庭教师。渐渐地，各种挑战他的传统哲学的事情出现了。他想把大女儿特拉嫁给有钱的屠夫，特拉却爱上了贫穷的裁缝默特，相爱的两人坚决要在一起，特维不得不妥协接受两人的婚姻。二女儿夏娃爱上了家庭教师菲得卡，特维斩钉截铁地反对两个不同信仰的人相爱，为此与女儿断绝关系。当他和村民们被沙皇派人赶出村子时，准备投靠住在纽约的舅舅的一家人，遇到了也在逃亡的女儿夏娃和丈夫，在两人真诚的乞求中，特维放弃了自己所遵从的传统哲学，原谅了女儿的出格。对他来说，离开这里，就意味着抛弃传统，开始全新的生活。 本片获得第44届奥斯卡奖最佳摄影、最佳音响、最佳配乐。

- Krista Glover2026年2月21日I hate musicals but Fiddler on the roof is the exception. The highlight for me is the actor Topol who plays Tevye, he was made for the role. As such I wasn't surprised to find out that he played the role on stage over 3500 times throughout his life. He has an incredible presence on screen. I wish I could of seen him perform live on stage!

- Charles London2025年3月18日Adapted from the now long-lived (non-continuous) Broadway and West End musical. One of my favorite directors, Norman Jewison, brings it to the screen for an enjoyable 3 hours. The wedding scene is an iconic piece of cinema.
