狂犬惊魂 Ratings & Reviews
- Razorbitz2026年1月22日I read the book back in middle school and remember Cujo leaving quite an impression on me. I always heard the adaptation wasn't great, but after watching this on a whim I have to say it was quite good. I forgot how essential to the plot that godawful Pinto was as well, so if you want to experience what it was like to own the worst car ever made (minus its signature spontaneous combustion) this is the movie for you. I have to assume King owned one of these monsters as it is just as terrifying as the titular beast. Cujo is the highlight; the Pinto sequences make the film worth watching by itself and the special effects evoking his deepening derangement as the film goes on are a sight to see. There is some great cinematography throughout, some serious pathos in the mother's actions and in Cujo as whole (even despite everything, the dog can't stop wagging his tail. One sequence in particular has a really great use of a spinning camera to amp up the sense of desperation I really appreciated, but the camera work in general has this workman's charm filled with creative shots that elevate a number of the more mundane scenes. The practical effects are tasteful and disturbing in equal measure, and can only imagine how poorly handled a modern remake of this would look. A lot of terse exchanges, close-ups, perspective shots--the film as a whole feels claustrophobic even before the second half of the movie hits. I liked that a lot. The child is incredibly annoying, but the situation is so hopeless that yeah, I'm sure any kid would behave like that. His voice grated my ears something fierce however. There are some boneheaded decisions from the mom as well but in all the beat for beat experience is a cautionary tale of the dangers in owning a Pinto. What a nightmare! I'm sure if I were to reread the book I would prefer it--its hard to forget reading from the perspective of Cujo--but in all I think this film gets a bad rap. There's a lot to appreciate if you come in with the right expectations. GIve it a watch!
- Really Cool2025年9月23日A total blassic (I can’t say *lassic with a C because I’m a member of the street gang called the Bloods)
- Nickyjames2025年9月11日This movie lives comfortably in the lane of three star Stephen King movies. Remember three stars isn't bad it means slightly above average. Very few of these types of movies top anyone's favorites list but they are all great movies to put on on a cloudy day or when you're just laying in bed or want comfort. And also it's '80s d Wallace as a mom how can you not be down
- thereelvoice2025年2月27日Once in a while a horror film will create an irrational fear. One can imagine that Cujo caused many dog lovers to keep a close eye on their four legged family member. Cujo delivers jump scares and enough tension to keep you on the edge of your seat. Although the premise feels a bit silly now, this film is still a fun watch, but you won’t worry about your doggo…right?
